Title: Research Integrity and Ethics in Scientific Research

❇ Dr J.Dhilipan, VP-Admin / HOD, presented the welcome address and he welcomed the chief guest of today’s FDP.

He concluded his address by explaining the importance of research integrity and the ethics in scientific research and requested all the participants to get benefited from today’s session.

Dr. M. Sundararajan handled the technical session on Research Integrity and Ethics in Scientific Research

 

The following points were emphasized and delivered by the resource person, Dr. M. Sundarajan:

 

Falsification of Data with relevance to air pollution

Ethical Practises

Plagiarism- without proper citation of another person’s work

Insight in to the UGC Guidelines related to Plagiarism in research publications

Conflicts of Interest –

Importance of Authorship, which gives credit to the published work of the research article of the content

 

Explained about the different types of authorships available

Integrity and Ethics

elaborated about the Predatory or Psuedo Journals and warned the participants to be careful about the predatory journals

to check the UGC-CARE list before publishing articles

 

Predatory Conference and caution notice on their natures

 

Safe Laboratory Practices

Good Scientific Practices as summary of the session.

Then the entire session was opened to the audience for clarification of their doubts and interaction
