SKILL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR ON “MEDICINAL PLANTS AND THEIR ACTIVE CONSTITUENTS – AN APPROACH AGAINST OBESITY AS AN ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE”
The Journal Club of the Department of Biotechnology, SRMIST, Ramapuram has organized a skill development seminar on “Medicinal plants and their active constituents – An approach against obesity as an alternative medicine”. This seminar was delivered by Dr. Ayesha Noor, PhD., Associate Professor, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore which is held on 21-12-2023, from 02:00 pm to 03:00 pm. The total number of student participants attended this seminar was 51. Dr. R. Vinoth Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology and convenor of the seminar has introduced the chief guest.
HIGHLIGHTS OF GUEST SPEECH:
- Obesity – Causes, assessment and complications
- Difference between obesity and overweight
- Relationship of obesity with glucose metabolism and cardiovascular diseases.
- Treatment of obesity
- Importance of medicinal plant constituents to treat obesity
