‘SILVER FRAMES 2024’- INTERNATIONAL LEVEL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL & COMPETITION
The Department of Visual Communication organized Silver Frames on Feb 29th & Mar 1st 2024 at TRP Auditorium.The event was honored to host the esteemed filmmaker, Shri SP Muthuraman, as a distinguished guest.The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including the J.BABY movie team, the Oru Nodi movie team, and the Amigo movie team, each representing their respective cinematic endeavors.Silver Frames commenced with lighting the kuthuvilakku by Attakathi Dinesh and Shri.S.P.Muthuraman, Maj.Dr.Venkatramanan, Dean (S&H), Dr.J.Dhilipan, VP Admin(S&H), Dr.V.Saravanan,Vice Principal (Academics) and Dr.V.Prabakaran, HOD/Media Studies.
The session was preceded by the HOD’s welcome address. The Chief Guest and J.Baby Team was welcomed by bookuet and honoured with a memento following the speeches by the dignitaries. Following that,the Film Actor Attakathi Dinesh, a prominent figure in the film industry, addressed the gathering, offering valuable insights drawn from his extensive experience. Subsequently, the J.BABY team took the stage to address the gathering, sharing their experiences and perspectives with the audience.Additionally, students had the opportunity to witness trailers, teasers, and music videos of upcoming Film J.Baby, offering a glimpse into the diverse and dynamic landscape of Films.The session concluded with the memorable photographs and videos.
In the next session, the Amigo team, accompanied by Ramzan Muhammed, a versatile dancer and actor renowned in the Malayalam film industry, along with actress Dilsha Prasannan,Director, Choreographer, Editor, and Music director of the film, addressed the gathering. Their multifaceted talents and experiences added depth to the event, offering attendees a comprehensive view of the filmmaking process. Additionally, students had the opportunity to witness the music video of the film, which captivated the audience and set a vibrant tone for the session.Following the screening, the Amigo team treated the audience to mesmerizing dance performances, showcasing their talents and adding an electrifying energy to the event.Through their performances and interactions, the Amigo team not only entertained but also imparted valuable knowledge and insights, leaving a lasting impact on the attendees.
On the first day of the Silver Frames 2024 event, attendees were delighted with an exciting film festival featuring the Best 11 shortlisted films. The screening session not only entertained but also inspired attendees, igniting discussions and reflections on the power of storytelling through the medium of short films.Overall,the Day 1 of the Silver Frames film festival & Competition was a testament to the power of storytelling and the enduring appeal of the short films.
On March 1, 2024, Day 2 of the Silver Frames 2024 event, the department had the honor of hosting Shri SP Muthuraman as the chief guest, where attendees were privileged to witness the esteemed filmmaker’s invaluable contributions to the Indian film industry.The welcome speech and felicitation were delivered by the HOD/Media Studies. Throughout the session, Shri SP Muthuraman shared his wealth of knowledge and experiences with the audience, offering insights into the intricacies of filmmaking and storytelling. Shri SP Muthuraman captivated the audience with his firsthand experiences and stories, revealing lesser-known facts about various films and renowned personalities in the industry. Additionally, Shri SP Muthuraman had the honor of awarding students who submitted their short films for the competition. He revealed the names of the top three winners and runners- up in both the SRM and other categories. Furthermore, he presented the category award for Best Director, recognizing outstanding talent and creativity in filmmaking.
Followed by the next session, the Oru Nodi team graced the event, sharing their valuable insights with the gathering. Their address provided attendees with unique perspectives on the filmmaking process, enriching their understanding of the industry. Additionally, the team delighted attendees with a music performance, adding a vibrant touch to the event atmosphere.During their address, attendees were given the exclusive chance to view the teaser of their forthcoming project, revealed for the first time during the Silver Frames event.Subsequently, the Oru Nodi team recognized the students who excelled in various category awards. They presented accolades for Best Editor, Best Cinematography, Best Actor, and Best Sound Design to deserving students from both the SRM and other categories.
The Oru Nodi Team inaugurated the GROOVE 8- a Viscom Dance club, unveiling its logo and AV presentation. As a token of appreciation, badges were presented to the dance club coordinators, recognizing their dedication and leadership.The session concluded on a high note, filled with happiness and excitement, as attendees participated in photo sessions to capture memorable moments from the event. The involvement of the Oru Nodi team greatly enhanced the Silver Frames 2024 event, making a lasting impression on everyone present.
