Summary of the Event:

The First Year Orientation Programme for freshers of MCA (General and Gen-AI) was hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Applications (MCA), Faculty of Science and Humanities at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram.

The event commenced with a warm welcome for the esteemed resource person, Mr. Sendilnath A., Director-Product Management, Data Scientist, Kyndryl Solution Pvt Ltd., Chennai. Mr. Sendilnath delivered an insightful presentation on the importance of career opportunities.

Dr. N. Krishnamoorthy, Assistant Professor presented the welcome address and he speaks about the various achievements of the department and introduced the guest to the audience.

Mr. Sendilnath started the session with the discussion if AI and data science. He discussed about the difference of AI, ML, DL, Gen AI. Then he discussed in detail about AI, ML, DL, Gen AI with their example. Then he started the transfer learning and traditional learning and their benefits. Then Discussed about the how Gen AI works and also, he explained about the model in AI such as standard model and custom model. He discussed about future Gen AI and importance of Gen AI. He Concluded his session by discussing career opportunities and the roles of job in Gen AI. He discussed about difference of Data science and AI/ML. He discussed about the job market in India for AI/ML. The session ends with student’s feedback.

The event was organized and managed by the Program Coordinators in collaboration with the department faculty members. The orientation program served as a pivotal platform for first-year students to enhance their understanding of academic and extracurricular activities. Attendees gained valuable insights, and the event concluded with a thoughtful expression of gratitude.
