SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

The event held on 30/08/2024 at SEWING LAB. BMS block ,7th floor, commenced with the HOD delivering the welcome address, introducing Ms. Nivetha Kanmani, and Ms. Githanjali Assistant professors of the fashion designing department to the participants. The HOD also highlighted the Overview of the event’s objectives and agenda

Ms. Nivetha Kanmani and Ms. Githanjali highlighted the Hands-on demonstration for the hand embroidery. This initiative was designed to extend the appreciation and understanding of hand embroidery techniques to non-teaching staff who support the department’s day-to-day operations.

The session provided a comprehensive overview of hand embroidery, including its origins, techniques, and significance in fashion. The speaker emphasized the artistry and craftsmanship involved, which captivated the audience and highlighted the importance of this traditional technique in modern design.

This practical session focused on demonstrating various hand embroidery techniques such as satin stitch, French knots, and chain stitch. Participants were introduced to the essential tools and materials required for hand embroidery, including needles, threads, and fabric.

The hands-on workshop allowed participants to apply the techniques they had learned. Each attendee worked on a sample embroidery project under the guidance of the expert. This interactive segment was particularly well-received, as it provided practical experience and personalized feedback.

This event not only empowered the non-teaching staff with new skills but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the craft of hand embroidery.

The session concluded with a Explanation and demonstrations in surface embellishment, providing in-depth knowledge and practical skills

The event ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Ruthika, a third-year JMC student, followed by the presentation of a memento to Ms. Sripriya by HOD Dr. Meenakshi. A group photo session of all attendees was conducted, and the event concluded with the National Anthem, marking a successful and informative session.

The workshop enhanced students’ digital content skills, fostering critical thinking and practical knowledge essential for the modern media industry, aligning with the goals of providing quality education and lifelong learning.

A total of 7  students attended the event, and feedback was collected to gauge their experience and satisfaction.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees appreciated the opportunity to learn about surface embellishment techniques and found the hands-on approach particularly valuable. Many expressed interests in further workshops to continue developing their skills.

The event effectively met the expectations of 96% of the attendees. Suggestions for future improvements focused on the event frequency. The Department of Fashion Designing is committed to continuing such initiatives to bridge gaps between various facets of the fashion industry and to support the professional growth of all members involved.
