SCRIPT TO SCREAM- A MasterClass with AJAY R GNANAMUTHU
On August 30, 2024, the School of Media Studies, Department of Visual Communication & Film Technology at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus, hosted a masterclass titled “SCRIPT TO SCREAM” in the Preview Theatre. Renowned film director Mr. Ajay.R Gnanamuthu led the session, offering a deep dive into the filmmaking process, particularly within the horror genre. He emphasized the need to break away from traditional Kollywood stereotypes, providing students with fresh perspectives on crafting impactful horror narratives. The event was convened by Dr. V. Prabakaran, Head of Media Studies, co-convened by Ms. P. Yuvarani, Programme Coordinator for Visual Communication, and coordinated by Mr. B. Saravanan, Assistant Professor of Visual Communication.
The session included an interactive Q&A where students engaged with Mr. Gnanamuthu on various aspects of filmmaking. He also shared behind-the-scenes footage from his film, “Demonte Colony 2,” providing exclusive insights into the film’s development and the innovative techniques used in its production.The masterclass was a resounding success, providing students with invaluable knowledge and inspiration.Participants walked away with a renewed sense of purpose and a clearer vision for their future endeavors in the film industry.
