SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

  • The World Ozone Day event commenced with the traditional Tamil Thai Vazhthu, a revered invocation song, setting a auspicious tone for the proceedings and emphasizing the significance of preserving our environment.
  • Dr. V. Deepa, Program Coordinator, facilitated the chief guests, Mr. P. Senthamil Selvan and Dr. T. Vijayarani, with the momentum, extending a warm welcome to them and setting the stage for a meaningful and informative celebration of World Ozone Day
  • Mr. P. Senthamil Selvan took the stage, greeted everyone warmly, and began his speech by reciting a relevant Thirukural, an ancient Tamil couplet, that highlighted the importance of preserving the Earth. He then delved into an engaging explanation of the Earth’s revolution, enlightening the students about the planet’s rotational journey and its significance in our daily lives.
  • Dr. T. Vijayarani took the stage and delivered an informative speech, enlightening the students on various crucial aspects related to the ozone layer, including its types, importance, ozone depletion, UV radiation, and the harmful effects of CFCs, providing a comprehensive understanding of the subject.
  • The World Ozone Day event concluded on a patriotic note, with the assembly singing the National Anthem, filling the air with a sense of unity and national pride, and bringing the enriching celebration to a close.

World Ozone Day promotes ozone-friendly technologies for sustainable economic growth, creating job opportunities and entrepreneurship avenues. Colleges can foster partnerships with local businesses, supporting sustainable development and job creation, and developing skills for sustainable consumption and production patterns.

On World Ozone Day, students learned about the Earth’s atmosphere and ozone layer protection. They discovered the harmful effects of ozone depletion and simple actions to preserve it. Through engaging discussions and expert talks, students developed a deeper understanding of their role in protecting the planet’s ecosystem, inspiring a new generation of young environmental stewards.
