RESOURCE PERSON DETAILS – BRIEF PROFILE OF THE SPEAKER
Dr. Rajat Nag is an Assistant Professor in Biological Engineering at UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, University College Dublin, Ireland. He is also a Chartered Engineer (CEng) from Engineers Ireland. He started his professional career in civil/structural engineering in India. He has designed many bridges, buildings, and water-retaining structures for a water treatment plant.
During his postdoctoral work, he investigated a comprehensive environmental risk assessment of a new technology to trap fish pathogens in water. Rajat is passionate about statistical/mathematical modelling. As an early career researcher, he has enjoyed building strong academic skills, exploring new research topics, and collaborating with other researchers. He is genuinely passionate about participating in multi-disciplinary, problem- solving, collaborative research. He is the country representative for Ireland.
He also investigates the benefit-risk assessment of certain chemicals with the novel integration of the Life Cycle Assessment approach, focusing on the Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALY) under climate change scenarios. Rajat is an Editorial Board member of the prestigious ‘Science of the Total Environment’ journal. He also enjoys vlogging, painting, travel photography, and cricket in his spare time.
SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
Objectives: Introduce students to the ethical considerations that arise during risk assessment processes in modern organizations, such as issues of fairness, transparency, and responsibility.
The lecture began with an introduction to the concept of risk assessment, which is crucial for businesses in today’s fast-paced and dynamic environment. Risk assessment helps organizations identify, evaluate, and prioritize risks to ensure the smooth operation of business processes. However, Dr. Nag emphasized that the process of risk assessment goes beyond the technical aspects and includes significant ethical considerations. His expertise and engaging delivery made the session highly valuable for the attendees, and it left them with a deeper understanding of the importance of integrating ethics into organizational risk management. Ms.B.Lizaa, I MBA welcomed the gathering and presented the resource person. The motion of gratitude was proposed by Mr. C.B. Anirudhan. I MBA, Mr. Jithendra Kumar, MBA, served as the coordinator for students. The event is being organized by Dr. P.
