Objective of the Event

Enhance the knowledge and practical understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and import-export processes for 45 third-year B.Com students from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai.

Synopsis of the Event

This report details the Student Outreach Programme organized by the Indian Institute of Logistics (IIL) in Chennai on 30.09.2024. The program aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and import-export processes for 45 third-year B.Com students from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai.

The program featured a keynote address by Adv(Capt) V J Pushpakumar, a distinguished speaker with expertise in the logistics domain.

Programme Highlights:

  • Adv(Capt) Pushpakumar delivered an insightful presentation focusing on:
    • The intricacies of supply chain management.
    • The key aspects of logistics operations.
    • The import-export process and its related regulations.
  • The session incorporated interactive elements, fostering engagement amongst the students.
  • Students were encouraged to ask questions and gain valuable insights into real-world challenges and opportunities within these fields.

This student outreach program offered a valuable learning experience for the participating B.Com students. The interactive format and expertise of Adv(Capt) Pushpakumar provided a comprehensive overview of critical logistics concepts. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Indian Institute of Logistics for organizing such an informative and engaging program.

  • Overwhelmingly Positive Response: Indian Institute of Logistics, Chennai visit received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants, with a combined 100% of attendees rating the event as “Strongly Agree” or “Agree.” This indicates that the visit was highly valuable and informative.
  • Strong Interest in Maritime Industry: A significant majority (85%) of participants expressed interest in the maritime industry and related fields, suggesting that the visit effectively piqued their curiosity and motivated them to explore these sectors further.
  • Encouraging Career Exploration: While 45% of participants felt inspired to consider a career in the logistics, supply chain, Import & export management, maritime industry.

Outcomes:

The student outreach program was a resounding success. The students:

  • Gained valuable knowledge on supply chain management, logistics, and import-export processes.
  • Developed a deeper understanding of the practical applications of these concepts.
  • Were inspired to explore career opportunities in the logistics and international trade sectors.
