SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

We Department of Fashion Designing organized a Bridge course (Student Enhancement Value added program for Batch 2024-2027 from the 2nd September 2024 to 6th September 2024 and 11th September 2024.

Day 1:

Resource Person 1: Ms. Nivetha Kanmani G – Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion Designing.

Topic: Life of Fashion designing

Insights on the profession of fashion designing and the educational pathways that are relevant to the fashion field. Her presentation was about the life of a fashion designer and the challenges faced by them. She also included the process of the design creation and how it’s being showcased to the market. She concluded with the career paths and opportunities in the fashion industry.

Resource Person 2: Ms. V SathyaAssistant Professor, Department of Fashion Designing.

Topic: Art and craft from various industries.

The event aimed to explore the diverse artistic traditions and craftsmanship from different cultures, highlighting the significance of art in cultural identity and heritage. Presented on the role of art in preserving cultural heritage. Discussed how traditional crafts evolve over time while maintaining their significance. Demonstrated traditional crafting techniques specific to their culture. Provided an overview of the historical context of various art forms.

Highlighted influential movements and their impact on contemporary art. Exploration of textile arts, pottery, and woodwork from different regions. Discussion on the symbolism and meanings behind various art forms.

Topic: Fashion Forecasting

Given a short introduction on forecasting and how it is being carried in the fashion industry. She has Delivered the basic concept of Forecasting and the process to undergo for forecasting. The topics is followed by its types and how to research is done on Market and the consumers is delivered.

Resource Person 4: Ms. R Githanjali – Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion Designing.

Topic: Technical Textile

The content covered are Introduction to Technical Textile, Flow Chart of Textile Processing, Textile Fiber, Classifications of Textile Fiber, Yarn Production, Textile Fabric, Wet Processing Techniques, Garment Manufacturing, Emerging Trend in technical textile. She highlighted the classification of the technical textile and

Resource Person 5: Ms. Oviya Yuvashree UAssistant Professor, Department of Fashion Designing.

Topic: Fashion Portfolio

Given a small introduction on Fashion portfolio and its importance. The content needed to prepare the portfolio has been taught. Delivered a content on how to frame the boards based on the selected theme. How to mind map the theme and frame the mood board and How to select the colour and fabric from the inspiration. Making of the end product from the scratch and visually presenting through a Photography.

Resource Person 6: Ms. VidhyavathiAssistant Professor, Department of Fashion Designing.

Topic: Visual Merchandising.

Provide insights into the latest trends and best practices in visual merchandising. It gathered industry professionals, students, and enthusiasts to discuss how effective visual strategies can enhance customer experience and drive sales. She discussed the fundamentals of creating an engaging store layout. Emphasized the importance of flow and customer journey.

Shared case studies on successful merchandising campaigns. Highlighted the use of technology in visual displays. Provided insights into emerging trends in consumer behavior.

Discussed the impact of social media on visual merchandising.

Resource Person 7: Mr. Sathya Narayanan J Assistant Professor, Department of Fashion Designing.

Topic: Fiber to Garment

Mr. Sathya Narayanan delivered an insightful seminar on the topic “Fiber to Garment,” exploring the intricate journey of textile production from raw fibers to finished garments. His presentation was about the entire supply chain and the importance of sustainability in the textile industry. He discussed various types of fibers, including natural (cotton, wool, silk) and synthetic (polyester, nylon) and he emphasized the properties of each fiber and their impact on garment quality and performance. The seminar outlined the steps involved in converting raw fibers into fabric, including spinning, weaving, and knitting. He highlighted the technological advancements in textile manufacturing that enhance efficiency and reduce waste. He concluded with predictions for the future of the textile industry, stressing the need for innovation and sustainable practices to meet evolving consumer expectations.
