SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

The Portfolio webinar was conducted on 09th September 2024 with the aim of providing the importance of a portfolio in the fashion industry and how it acts as a personal marketing tool to showcase an individual’s skills, creativity, and accomplishments. The webinar was attended by III Year B.Sc Students.

Workshop Highlights:

Types of Portfolios: She discussed the different types of portfolios (digital and physical) and provided tips on how to choose the right format depending on the audience and career stage.

Key Elements of a Portfolio: The speaker elaborated on essential elements such as:

  • Conceptual sketches and illustrations
  • Design process documentation
  • Mood boards and inspiration sources
  • Final designs with detailed technical specifications
  • Fabric and material swatches, color palettes

Tailoring Portfolios for Specific Audiences: Dr. Geetha emphasized the need to customize portfolios based on the purpose (job interviews, freelance opportunities, academic applications) and provided tips on highlighting specific projects that align with career goals.

Creative Presentation Techniques: She shared tips on how to creatively present the portfolio in both digital and physical formats to stand out from the competition. Techniques like storytelling, cohesive design narratives, and personal branding were highlighted.

Common Mistakes to Avoid: The webinar also covered common pitfalls to avoid in portfolio creation, such as overcrowding the content, lacking consistency, or omitting the creative process.
