SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

Empower, educate, protect: creating a safe environment for women Seminar was conducted on 13th September 2024 with the aim to address the critical issues surrounding women’s safety and empowerment in various environments, focusing on the roles of education, protection, and community engagement. The Seminar was attended by department of fashion Students.

Workshop Highlights:

  • The role of education in raising awareness about rights and available resources.
  • Training programs focused on self-defense, financial literacy, and mental health support.
  • Collaborations with schools to promote gender-sensitive curricula.

Empowerment Strategies:

  • Participants engaged in role-playing scenarios to practice assertiveness and negotiation skills.
  • Group discussions on barriers women face and brainstorming solutions.

Educational Workshops:

  • Sessions on financial literacy, self-defense, and mental health resources.
  • Participants created action plans for applying learned skills in their communities.

Legal Protections for Women:

  • Legal experts discussed current laws and resources available for women facing violence.
  • Emphasized the importance of understanding rights and available support systems.

Community Initiatives:

  • Representatives from local organizations shared successful programs that promote safety and empowerment.
  • Discussion on how to replicate these initiatives in different contexts.

SDG 4:  Quality Education

  • Workshops and training sessions focused on critical life skills, such as leadership, financial literacy, and self-defense. Opportunities for women to develop vocational skills that enhance employability.

SDG 5:  Gender Equality

Eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and girls everywhere.. End all forms of violence and exploitation, including trafficking and sexual exploitation.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

–   Ensure equal opportunities and reduce inequalities of outcome, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, migration status, or other factors.
