Objective of the Event
The objective of ‘World Cancer Day’ is to raise awareness about cancer, encourage prevention, and promote early detection and treatment. It also aims to reduce the global cancer burden and improve the quality of life for people with cancer. This cancer awareness event involves covering several critical aspects related to cancer. This event is organized to familiarize students with topics such as cancer types, its detection and diagnosis, and various treatments available to cure the disease. It is also intended to create awareness among students on the terminologies used in the cancer illness. A discussion is organized to educate students on the type of symptoms developed by various cancer types at different stages
Synopsis of the Event
- The event started on 04.02.2025 with an overview of the event by Dr. M. Kamaraj, HoD, Biotechnology.
- III B.Sc Biotechnology and I M.Sc Biotechnology students attended the event.
- This event has included several activities including a student discussion on the relationship between lifestyle and cancer. The students have also solved a cancer crossword puzzle that includes the details of cancer types, their symptoms, diagnosis, and prevention. This was followed by an activity to identify the cancer terminologies in a jumbled alphabet. These events have created awareness among the students on the diagnosis, preventive measures, and treatment of various types of cancer.
