SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

The event commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Saamraat, a third-year student, who set the tone for an engaging session. Dr. Meenakshi, the esteemed Head of the Department, was then invited to address the gathering. She eloquently introduced the dynamic nature of the students and their varied interests, followed by a brief overview of the lecture’s focal theme—Media Entrepreneurship. She then introduced the distinguished guest, highlighting his extensive experience and notable achievements in the business world, before presenting him with a memento as a token of appreciation.

The guest speaker began his lecture with a famous quote by Bharathiyar, seamlessly transitioning into a compelling narrative of his personal journey. He recounted his early years, beginning with his education at Kurunji School, his subsequent shift to Namakkal, and how his academic performance declined as he advanced in his studies. Despite these challenges, he pursued a B.Sc. in Chemistry at an arts and science college, where he undertook unique projects with the support of campus interviews. He shared anecdotes from his early professional life, including his first job, where even the watchman seemed like an adversary, and how he received continuous salary increments due to his company’s impressive turnover.

His career trajectory included stints at Nissan and a Japanese company before he ultimately decided to venture into business. Despite initial resistance from his father-in-law, whom he referred to as a ‘villain,’ he persevered and founded his own company, Private Automation Company. He confidently shared his ambitious goals, which included educating 100 students, providing economic opportunities to 100 people, and achieving a turnover of 100 crores by 2030 and even aims more confidently . He emphasized the importance of setting achievable, time-bound, and realistic goals.

The speaker encouraged students to pursue their dreams with determination, illustrating his point with the example of meeting prominent figures like Ratan Tata, by developing oneself to the point where such opportunities become attainable. He stressed the importance of not hesitating and seizing every opportunity, drawing an analogy to a Tami story “Kazhugu kadhai ,” and highlighted the critical role of not taking an opportunity due to hesitation and also discussed the roles corporates and journalists play in shaping society.

He provided insights into the various career opportunities within the media industry, from radio jockeying to news anchoring, and discussed the qualities essential for entrepreneurship, such as decision-making skills, risk tolerance, and long-term vision. He also recounted his inspiring personal background, where, despite his father’s humble profession as a lorry driver, he rose through hard work and perseverance.

The speaker articulated his long-term vision for 2047 vision vikshit, aiming to develop patriotic individuals and strengthen the nation’s economic fabric. He also dispelled the negative stigma around business failures, emphasizing that in today’s economy, even failed startups are respected for their efforts. He shared a thought-provoking analogy about tank fish and the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where students engaged the speaker on various topics, including the trend of studying abroad versus staying in India, carbon emissions, the global economic landscape, and the importance of ethical leadership. The guest responded with optimism about India’s future, citing its growing GDP and infrastructure developments.

Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Divesh, a first-year student, marking the end of the session, which concluded with the national anthem and a group photograph. The event was a resounding success, leaving the attendees inspired and motivated to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions with renewed vigor.
