SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
Opening:
The event commenced with the Thamizh Thai Vazhthu by students from the College of Science and Humanities, setting a respectful and cultural tone for the proceedings.
Welcome Address:
The Head of the Department, Dr. N. Meenakshi, delivered the welcome speech, introducing the topic of News Television Production and the chief guest. She highlighted the chief guest’s work and his achievements. Swetha ,third year student, followed with an address, highlighting the significance of the event.
Introduction of Chief Guest:
Mrs. Aparna Sudheendhran, Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication introduced the chief guest, Mr. Karthikeyan. She provided an overview of his background and achievements, setting the stage for an informative session.
Introduction of Trainers:
The team from Black Magic Products was introduced, including:
- Vasan Subramanian:Technical Specialist
- Rahul: Business Head
- Madhivanan: Support Specialist
- Gowtham: Pre-Sales and Certified DaVinci Trainee
Each trainer’s role and expertise were briefly explained, setting the stage for an informative and interactive session.
Workshop Activities:
The session covered various aspects of television news production, including:
Camera Handling:
The trainers provided in-depth demonstrations on handling professional cameras, focusing on techniques for achieving optimal shots and angles. Students were introduced to the specific features and functionalities of Black Magic cameras.
Editing and Live Reporting:
The workshop included practical sessions on editing techniques using
industry-standard software. The trainers emphasized the workflow of live reporting, including the setup and operation of equipment for real-time broadcasting.
Practical Sessions:
A highlight of the workshop was the hands-on experience, where students worked with 12 cameras connected simultaneously. This practical exercise allowed students to experience a live news production environment, practicing camera switching and reporting.
Interactive Q&A Session:
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students asked questions about technical challenges, career opportunities in television production, and the specifics of using Black Magic products.
Vote of Thanks
Tanvee a Second year student, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, faculty members, and attendees for their participation and contributions
