SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

Opening:

The event commenced with the Thamizh Thai Vazhthu by students from the College of Science and Humanities, setting a respectful and cultural tone for the proceedings. The event began with a formal introduction and a welcome address by Prithika from the first year, setting the tone for an engaging session on filmmaking and storytelling.

Welcome Address:

Dr. N. Meenakshi welcomed the attendees and introduced the theme of the event, emphasizing the integration of creativity and technical skills in filmmaking. The welcome address highlighted the significance of storytelling in connecting with audiences.

Introduction of Chief Guest:

Mrs. Aparna Sudheendhran, Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication introduced the chief guest ,Mr. A. Ramesh Kumar, outlining his achievements and contributions to the film industry. The introduction set the stage for an insightful session.

Technical Session:

Ramesh Kumar commenced with an exploration of the fundamentals of storytelling, stressing the importance of elements like storyline, screenplay, script, and dialogue. He engaged the audience in a visualization exercise, asking them to imagine their favorite places in Chennai, illustrating the

importance of setting in storytelling.The session then delved into practical aspects of filmmaking, focusing on creating films within a budget.

Key topics included:

Framing, Lighting, and Color: Techniques to enhance visual storytelling,

Props and Set Design: Utilizing resources effectively to convey the narrative.

Importance of Color: The emotional and thematic impact of color choices in film.A. Ramesh Kumar also discussed the art of editing, emphasizing different styles and the Significance of editing speed and input in shaping a film’s final form. He encouraged students to develop a clear and

understandable storyline, incorporating natural dialogues and actions.The discussion included an

overview of the journey of filmmaking, covering essential aspects such as editing, distribution, and cinematography. He stressed the importance of a comprehensive approach to filmmaking, from concept to final product.

Interactive Q&A Session:

Students actively participated in the Q&A session, raising questions about filmmaking techniques, storytelling elements, and career prospects in the film industry. A. Ramesh Kumar provided insightful responses, sharing personal experiences and practical advice.

Vote of Thanks 

Divya Dharshini.S from third year delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to A. Ramesh Kumar, Head of the Department,faculty members, and  attendees for their participation and contributions to the event. contributions.
