SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
Faculty of Management, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram organised HR SUMMIT’25 on 27th March 2025 aimed to discuss key issues surrounding diversity, inclusion, equity, and sustainability, particularly in the context of the growing influence of the digital era. The event featured a series of engaging sessions with thought leaders in human resources, technology, and diversity.
Dr. R. Arulmoli, the Head of the Department of MBA, welcomed the guests and Dr. C. Sundar, Dean of the Faculty of Management, emphasized the importance of addressing diversity and equity in today’s business environment. He also highlighted key points on diversity, particularly the inclusion of international students, equity, and the initiatives adopted by the Faculty of Management to foster an inclusive environment. These initiatives include promoting equal opportunities for all students, implementing policies that support a diverse student academic and social life at SRM Institute of Science and Technology.
Mr. Bala Vummidi delivered the inaugural address, highlighting the growing importance of human resources in driving change within organizations. He spoke about how digital technologies are transforming HR practices and stressed the need for inclusivity and sustainability in digital transformations. Mr. Bala Vummidi also stated that there are 20 elements of diversity, and as MBA students, you should cultivate a mindset focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion in policy matters when you become decision-makers.
Sessions:
Session 1 – Talent Acquisition & Retention in AI and the Digital Era

Mr. Visukumar Gopal gave an insightful session on how AI and digital technologies are reshaping the way businesses acquire and retain talent. He discussed new tools and strategies for talent management in the evolving digital landscape.

Mr. Gopal also compared AI adoption in India versus the global landscape, shedding light on the unique challenges faced by startups and emerging tech firms in attracting top talent. The key takeaways from this session included the transformative impact of AI on the hiring process, the critical need for upskilling in today’s workforce, and the importance of using multiple databases, such as the World Economic Forum, to stay updated on global trends and developments. Mr. Gopal stressed that students must continuously enhance their knowledge to remain competitive and adaptable in the ever-changing job market.
Session 2 – Getting Ready for Digital Transformation by
Ms. Jayashree Ranganathan Head – Recruitment, SRM Technologies
Ms. Jayashree Ranganathan spoke on the strategies organizations need to adopt to prepare for digital transformation. She highlighted how recruitment processes must evolve to cater to new skills in the workforce, especially those needed for digital roles. Ms. Jayashree provided valuable input on resume preparation, advising students to tailor their resumes according to the job description (JD) to ensure they pass through Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). She emphasized the importance of building a real story on the resume, rather than using fancy words.
Along with Ms. Jayashree, Mr. Bala Vummidi made the session more interactive by answering students’ questions. They concluded the session by stressing the essential skills students need to develop to become successful employees, such as networking skills, authenticity, and ownership.
Session 3 – Workforce Diversity, Inclusion & Equity
Ms. Mini Mishra, Associate Director & Operations Leader, NeilsonIQ
Ms. Mini Mishra presented a comprehensive view of workforce diversity, inclusion, and equity. She shared strategies for promoting inclusivity in the workplace and discussed the role of leaders in fostering an environment where all employees feel valued and supported. She highlighted the advantages of diversity and pointed out the challenges related to equity and inclusion. Ms. Mishra also addressed the issue of the underrepresentation of women in top positions, attributing it to family responsibilities and societal expectations. She concluded by emphasizing that family, organizations, and society as a whole must adopt a mindset that supports the improvement of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Special Recognition:
At the conclusion of the summit, Mr. Bala Vummidi, Vice President & Global Head – HR at SRM Technologies, offered an internship opportunity to Ms. Sowjanya, a student of I MBA, as a token of appreciation for her active participation and for successfully completing the task assigned to her during the event. This gesture highlighted the event’s focus on recognizing talent and providing opportunities for students to connect with industry professionals.
