Synopsis of the Event:
The Skill Development Program in Mathematics aimed at enhancing the mathematical skills of Plus 1 and Plus 2 students through interactive sessions, workshops, and practical exercises. The program focused on fundamental concepts, problem-solving techniques, and real-world applications of mathematics.We Department of Mathematics organized an online skill development program in mathematics entitiled,“Mathlets 2025” on 18.02.2025 between 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm , to explore the survey questions in the view of getting the right response from the students. The Program helped the students to know about the importance of Mathematics. Nearly 100 students from various schools participated in this program. Some of the schools names are as Doveton boys higher secondary school, The National IT international matriculation higher secondary school, Chennai higher secondary school west mambalam, Sri Ramakrishna higher secondary school (MAIN),ORANGE BRITISH ACADEMY (CBSE), Dav bhel school ranipet,Velammal matric surapet, Krishna teja junior college,Tirupathi, Saradha vidhyalaya school,T.Nagar.
OUTCOMES OF THE PROGRAM:
The invited talk, aligns closely with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 4, 7, 9, and 11.
Goal 4 (Quality Education) invited talk on “Statistics for Artificial Intelligence” significantly enhanced students understanding of the crucial role that statistics plays in AI development. By illustrating real-world applications,
Goal 7 aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all by 2030. Energy is a critical driver for development, and achieving. SDG 7 is essential for eradicating poverty, promoting economic growth, and addressing climate change. (Decent Work and Economic Growth) is linked as students gain valuable skills that prepare them for future careers in STEM fields, driving innovation and sustainable economic growth.
Goal 9 focuses on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. It aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation. This goal is critical for driving economic growth, creating jobs, and achieving sustainable development globally.
Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) The session inspired students to explore how statistical methods are essential in solving AI-related problems, motivating them to pursue careers or further studies in AI and data science. The speaker’s insights into the challenges of implementing AI systems and the introduction to advanced statistical terminology enriched students’ academic perspectives.
