Event Report

To mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram organized a pledge-taking ceremony and an awareness rally campaign on June 26, 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about the devastating effects of drug abuse and encourage students and the community to adopt a drug-free lifestyle.

The event was graced by Inspector Anand Babu, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the rising concern of drug abuse among youth and the importance of community vigilance and early intervention. He also appreciated the initiative taken by the NSS Unit in educating young minds and fostering social responsibility.

The gathering was also addressed by Dr. S. Thirumagan, Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities, who highlighted the institution’s continued commitment to student well-being and social awareness.

The event was organized under the valuable guidance of Dr. J. Dhilipan, Vice Principal, who extended his support and encouragement in making the campaign impactful.

The program commenced with a pledge-taking ceremony, where students, faculty, and NSS volunteers took a collective oath to stand against drug abuse and promote healthy living. This was followed by a spirited rally campaign that saw enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers holding placards and raising slogans to spread the message of anti-drug awareness across the campus and nearby areas.

The campaign successfully engaged numerous students and staff members, igniting a collective sense of responsibility toward building a drug-free society. The NSS Unit remains committed to such socially relevant causes that contribute to the betterment of individuals and the community at large.
