A Grand Welcome to the Batch of 2025–2026: Freshers’ Induction at SRMIST Ramapuram

The Faculty of Science and Humanities at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus, hosted a grand and heartwarming Freshers’ Induction Programme on Wednesday, 9 July 2025, at the TRP Auditorium. The event marked the official welcome of the incoming batch of students for the academic year 2025–2026, setting the tone for their academic and personal journey ahead.

The programme began with an invocation and the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness through knowledge. Dr. S. Thirumagan, Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities, delivered the welcome address and introduced the institution’s vision, legacy, and unwavering commitment to excellence and student growth.

Presiding over the event, honourable Chairman Dr. R. Shivakumar, SRM Group of Institutions, Chennai Ramapuram & Trichy, delivered an inspiring and forward-looking Presidential Address. He encouraged students to approach their academic journey with curiosity and purpose, to develop both intellect and character, and to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. He emphasized the importance of being future-ready, highlighting the role of SRM in nurturing talent through exposure to research, innovation, and industry collaborations. His words motivated the students to aim high and make the most of the opportunities awaiting them on campus.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Rita John, Registrar, University of Madras, delivered a highly motivational and engaging inaugural address. Her speech resonated deeply with the students as she shared valuable insights on the importance of resilience, self-discipline, and the spirit of lifelong learning. She urged students to go beyond the classroom, remain open to new ideas, and prioritize mental well-being and emotional intelligence along with academic excellence. Her address was met with resounding applause and left a lasting impression on everyone present.

Following the chief guest’s address, the Heads of Departments were introduced, allowing students to connect with their academic mentors and gain clarity on the academic structure and departmental goals. The programme concluded with a sincere Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. J. Dhilipan, Vice-Principal (Admin), who acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved in making the event a meaningful success.

The induction programme stood as a proud moment for the institution and a memorable beginning for the fresher’s filled with encouragement, hope, and the promise of a bright academic future at SRMIST.
