SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
Department of Biotechnology organized two days orientation program for first-year students on 10.07.2025 and 11.07.2025. The motivational orientation speech was delivered by faculty coordinators belonging to various departments like Student counselling, Placements, Sports, Alumni, International Relationship, Campus life. On first day, the talk by Dr.Annama Reddy Chamundeswari, Student Counsellor, SRMIST, Chennai Ramapuram focused on usage of smart phone and its addiction in young students. She provided insights on how to overcome phone additions among students. The talk by Mr.R.Raghuath, Physical Director, SRMIST, Chennai Ramapuram, addressed on the importance of sports and encouraged the students in taking part in sports related activites intiated in the institution. Dr.Abraham Benjamin Samuel, Assistant Director of International Relations, SRMIST, Chennai Ramapuram, delivered details to students about the Semester Abroad Program offered by the institution and its impact gained for students when choosing higher education or career. Mr.N.R.Monish Raaj, Placement officer, SRMIST, Chennai Ramapuram shared details about oppurtunites created for students for placements during the end of their degree. Also detailed about the procedure for application filling, importance of percentage/ CGPA in semester exams for placement enrollement. Second day the talk given by Alumni Ms.Ridhani Shree and Mr.Vibash Kalyan motivated the students. They shared their experiences in learning and oppurtunities received from the department in doing research and participation in conferences. Dr. Shanmuganathan, Campus life coordinator, SRMIST, Chennai Ramapuram, detailed about various events organized for the students on occassions and festivals to keep students enjoyable within campus. Mr. Xavier Raja Durai, Prime IAS Academy, delivered a speech on the importance of taking civil service role in public services and provided motivating guideline on how to take part in examination and its exam prepeardness.
OUTCOMES OF THE PROGRAM:
The session was attended by 70 freshers. The students had an interactive session. They gained insights into different facets of the institution that are available for their benefit.
