 A focused session on “Company Law and Secretarial Practice” was conducted as part of an academic enrichment initiative aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of corporate legal frameworks and the role of company secretaries in organizational governance. The event was designed to introduce students to the statutory and regulatory environment in which companies operate and to develop awareness of the key compliance responsibilities under the Companies Act.

The session covered essential topics such as the formation and incorporation of companies, types of companies, Memorandum and Articles of Association, roles and duties of directors, legal responsibilities of company secretaries, conduct of board and general meetings, and filing of statutory documents with the Registrar of Companies (ROC). The session also emphasized the importance of ethical corporate governance and compliance with regulatory standards.

Through practical examples and real-world case studies, students were able to connect theory with practice, gaining insights into how corporate decisions are legally formalized and executed. The resource person highlighted current trends and amendments in company law, as well as career opportunities in corporate law and company secretarial roles.
