The Department of English and Other Foreign Languages at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, hosted the grand inauguration of its academic association, The Language Elites, on the 5th of August, 2025. The event celebrated the spirit of literary engagement, student initiative, and intellectual camaraderie.
The program commenced with a solemn invocation – Tamizhthai Vazhthu, followed by a graceful welcome dance, setting the cultural tone of the event.
The gathering was formally welcomed by Dr. J. Jabeela Shirlin, Head of the Department, who introduced the aims and vision of The Language Elites, emphasizing its role in nurturing literary sensibilities and promoting language-based scholarly activities among students.
Delivering the Presidential Address, Dr. S. Thirumagan, Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities, underscored the importance of communication and critical thinking in contemporary academia and praised the initiative as a platform that fosters both.
The Chief Guest, Mr. S.W. Alvin Ansa Raja, a distinguished storyteller and corporate communication skill trainer, delivered an inspiring inaugural address. Drawing from his extensive professional experience, he highlighted the value of storytelling, effective communication, and linguistic confidence in both personal and professional spheres. His words left the audience enriched and motivated.
The Instillation office bearers for The Language Elites were elected. The solemn oath marked their commitment to upholding the values of leadership, inclusivity, and intellectual curiosity.
The event concluded with a warm words of gratitude by Ms. Manjushree, President of The Language Elites and student of III BA English.
The inauguration culminated with the National Anthem, leaving the audience with a sense of pride and unity.
Overall, the event marked the beginning of a promising journey for The Language Elites, setting a strong precedent for future activities that aim to empower students through language, literature, and leadership.
