SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:
- The Orientation Program for Freshers 2025 featured an insightful session on “Industry Connect with Data Science”, designed to introduce first-year students to real-world applications and career opportunities in the field of Data Science.
- The session aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by highlighting current trends, emerging technologies, and the skillsets required in the data- driven job Industry experts and academic leaders shared their experiences, discussed key domains such as AI, Machine Learning, Big Data, and Analytics, and emphasized the importance of continuous learning, internships, and project-based exposure.
- The program provided freshers with early awareness of how Data Science influences various sectors including healthcare, finance, retail, and manufacturing, thereby motivating them to align their learning goals with industry needs. The orientation laid a strong foundation for the students’ academic journey, inspiring them to explore innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration in the Data Science domain.

- Guest Introduction by the Event Convener, N. Vijayalakshmi, Program Coordinator – Data Science:
- As part of the Orientation Program for Freshers – 2025, a special session titled “Industry Connect with Data Science” was conducted to help students understand the evolving role of data in shaping modern industries. The session was graced by Krishnamurthy Lakshminarayana C, AVP and Head of Global IT & Security at Prodapt Solutions, a leading global company in the digital service provider (DSP) ecosystem.
- Krishnamurthy brought with him deep insights from his extensive experience in IT leadership and cybersecurity, highlighting how Data Science is a strategic enabler for digital transformation. He elaborated on the growing demand for data-literate professionals, the role of AI/ML, predictive analytics, and data governance, and emphasized the need for interdisciplinary skills combining domain knowledge, technology, and ethical awareness.
- The session gave freshers an early exposure to the industry expectations, showcasing how real-world problems are solved using data-driven decision-making in areas such as telecom, automation, and smart infrastructure. He also discussed the importance of upskilling, collaborative projects, and staying current with technological trends.
- The event not only inspired students to explore career opportunities in Data Science, but also motivated them to begin their academic journey with a future-ready mindset.

Through the entrepreneurship showcase, students gained practical exposure to developing business ideas, which enhances their skills in critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.

SDG 11 focuses on making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Entrepreneurship is a key driver in building sustainable communities and improving urban living standards.

SDG 17 emphasizes strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing the global partnership for sustainable development. Collaboration between governments, academia, industry, and civil society is essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
