SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

The Department of Commerce, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized an Alumni Talk – 2K25 on August 7, 2025, under the theme BEHIND THE RESUME: WHAT RECRUITERS REALLY LOOK FOR. The guest speaker was Mrs. Swetha. A, an alumnus from the 2016 – 2019 batch, currently working as Recruitment Specialist in SRM Technologies.

As a professional working in the core of talent acquisition, Ms. Swetha shared valuable insights into the recruitment process, highlighting the key attributes recruiters seek in fresh graduates. From the importance of well-structured resumes to the subtle aspects of communication skills, attitude, and cultural fit, she emphasized that hiring decisions are influenced by a holistic view of the candidate—not just academic performance.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in the Q&A segment, seeking advice on resume building, LinkedIn profiles, virtual interviews, and personal branding. Ms. Swetha also shed light on common mistakes students make, ways to avoid them, and how to present oneself professionally both online and offline.

She further encouraged students to explore internships, certifications, and extracurricular activities as ways to add depth to their profiles.
