The Department of Visual Communication & Film Technology, School of Media Studies, SRM IST Ramapuram, organized a masterclass titled “Beyond Words: Exploring Visual Language in Filmmaking” on 3rd July 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Gallery Hall 3, Block V. The event was hosted by RECTANGLE – A Viscom Film Club in association with Galatta, featuring acclaimed filmmaker and actor Mr. Ram as the chief guest. During the session, Mr. Ram shared his unique filmmaking style, deep storytelling methods, and experiences from his creative journey. He also spoke about his much-anticipated film Parandhu Po, which is set to release on July 4th, offering students valuable insights into the themes, challenges, and aesthetics behind the project. Students had an engaging interactive session with Mr. Ram, asking thoughtful questions and gaining clarity on cinematic techniques and narrative building. The masterclass proved to be an inspiring and educational experience for all aspiring filmmakers. It was effectively coordinated by Convenor Dr. V. Prabakaran (Head, Media Studies), Co-Convenor Ms. P. Yuvarani (Programme Coordinator, Viscom), and Staff Coordinators Mr. B. Saravanan and Mr. S. Makesh, with the support of Advisors Dr. S. Thirumagan (Dean, S&H) and Dr. J. Dhilipan (Vice Principal, Admin).
