SUMMARY OF THE EVENT
The Department of Computer Science and Applications (Data Science) organized an outreach visit titled “Spreading Smiles” to Akshaya Trust Old Age Home, Valasaravakkam on 30th August 2025.
The objective of the program was to nurture empathy, compassion, and social responsibility among students while bringing joy and comfort to the elderly residents.
Faculty and students interacted warmly with the senior citizens, listening to their experiences and sharing conversations that made them feel valued. To support the home, they contributed a Mixer Grinder and essential groceries, ensuring practical help for daily needs.
The students and Faculty entertained the residents through singing, dancing, and fun cultural performances, filling the atmosphere with happiness. Games and group activities were also conducted, encouraging participation and engagement from the elderly. The residents expressed their gratitude, and the smiles on their faces reflected the success of the initiative.
The event created a meaningful bond between the youth and elders, offering both memorable experiences and a sense of fulfillment. It also highlighted the importance of compassion and care as integral parts of education.
OUTCOMES OF THE PROGRAM
- SDG 1: No Poverty – Contributed essential groceries and household items to support the basic needs of the elderly residents, ensuring better living conditions.
