The Department of English & Other Foreign Languages, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, successfully organized a One-Week International Workshop (Hybrid) on “Methodology, Ethics and Excellence in Research and Publication” from 27th October to 1st November 2025.

The workshop aimed to promote scholarly rigor and ethical research practices among faculty members, research scholars and students. It offered an engaging academic platform to explore emerging methodologies, ethical frameworks, and publication standards within the humanities and social sciences.

The sessions combined offline and online modes, enabling participants from diverse academic institutions to interact with eminent national and international experts.

Day 1 (27.10.2025 – Offline)

Dr. A. Thanga Raja, Assistant Professor Senior, Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, inaugurated the workshop with an insightful session on “Advanced Research in Social Sciences.”

Day 2 (28.10.2025 – Online)

Dr. Sougand Akbarian, Assistant Professor of English, Sheikh Bahaei University, Iran, discussed “Characteristics of Good Hypotheses.”

Day 3 (29.10.2025 – Online)

Dr. Eugene O’Brien, Professor and Head, Department of English Language and Literature, Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, Ireland, shared his expertise on “From Proposal to Publication: Navigating Academic Book Publishing.”

Day 4 (30.10.2025 – Online)

Dr. R. Nandhini, Deputy Director, CDOE: MBA, AMET University, Chennai, addressed “Designing Effective Research Questions and Objectives: A Practical Approach.”

Day 5 (31.10.2025 – Online)

Dr. M. Benzigar, Academic Consultant, Bangalore, presented on “Ethics in Research Publication”

Day 6 (01.11.2025 – Online)

Dr. Priyanka Tripathi, Associate Professor of English, Indian Institute of Technology, Patna, concluded the workshop with a session on “Developing Academic Paragraphs.”

Outcome

The week-long workshop enhanced participants’ awareness on research methodology, ethical publication practices, and academic excellence. It fostered a collaborative academic spirit and strengthened interdisciplinary dialogue within the research community.
