SUMMARY OF THE EVENT:

The Department of Fashion Designing, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram campus, successfully organized Loominance’25 in celebration of National Handloom Day. The two-day event highlighted the significance of handlooms, sustainable practices, and Gandhian values in contemporary society.

(Seminar: Youth for Peace – Gandhian Perspective)

On the second day, Mr. A. Karunakaran, Coordinator of the National Youth Project and Youth Forum for Gandhian Studies, delivered a seminar on “Youth for Peace – Gandhian Perspective”. His session provided valuable insights into Gandhiji’s philosophy of peace, simplicity, and self-reliance, motivating students to embrace these values in their personal and professional lives.

Expo and Exhibitions

As part of the event, an Expo of handloom products was organized, featuring unique collections from Kadhi Kraft and Anana Fit. Additionally, students and faculty showcased a wide range of handcrafted products, reflecting creativity, traditional skills, and sustainable fashion approaches.

Loominance’25 served as a vibrant platform to celebrate the rich heritage of Indian handlooms, promote sustainable design practices, and inspire students with Gandhian values. The event successfully bridged tradition with contemporary design, making it both educational and inspiring for participants.
