INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO HYDERABAD:
The School of Media Studies, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST), Ramapuram, organized an Industrial Visit to Hyderabad from 25th to 29th September 2025 as part of experiential learning for students. The visit was designed to provide practical exposure to cinematic technologies, film production environments, and cultural landmarks relevant to media studies.
On the first day, students visited IMAX Prasads Multiplex, where they experienced advanced cinematic projection and sound technology by watching the Japanese film Demon Slayer and the English film One Battle After Another. This exposure helped students understand large-format screening, immersive viewing experiences, and contemporary global cinema practices. On the second day, students spent a full day at Ramoji Film City, gaining first-hand knowledge of large-scale film production. They explored live sets, live motion capture demonstrations, set design processes, and iconic shooting locations, including sets associated with films like Baahubali, pushpa and many more, which deepened their understanding of production design, virtual environments, and filmmaking logistics.
On the third day, the visit concluded with an educational tour of Charminar, allowing students to engage with Hyderabad’s cultural heritage, followed by local exploration and shopping. Overall, the industrial visit offered students valuable insights into the practical aspects of filmmaking, exhibition technology, and cultural storytelling, complementing their academic learning with real-world exposure.
The visit was organized under the guidance of Dr. V. Prabakaran, Head, Media Studies, as Convenor, along with Ms. P. Yuvarani, Programme Coordinator of Visual Communication, Ms. P.S. Padmavathy, Programme Coordinator of Journalism and Mass Communication, and Dr. Shanmuganathan, Programme Coordinator of Film Technology, with the support of other faculty members.
