Event title : Pixel Poetry

 

The Department of Visual Communication, School of Media Studies, SRM IST, Ramapuram, organized a Grand Photography Exhibition- Pixel Poetry on 19th August 2025 at 10:00 AM in the campus premises to mark World Photography Day . The exhibition showcased a curated collection of over 200+ photographs captured across Chennai, highlighting its people, culture, heritage, architecture, beaches, and markets, while celebrating Madras Day 2025 . Each photograph was thoughtfully linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a unique eco-friendly display design where images were mounted on cardboard pillars instead of traditional frames, promoting sustainability in art and events.

 

The event was graced by noted Film Director and Cinematographer Mr. Vijay Milton as the Chief Guest, who praised the students’ creative approach and acknowledged the depth of their thought process and work. Visitors were also appreciated the students’ efforts and the thoughtful perspectives showcased through their work. Big FM partnered as the official radio partner, amplifying the event’s reach and encouraging the community to celebrate photography. Organized and curated entirely by Visual Communication students, the exhibition provided them with invaluable hands-on experience in event management and curation. The event was held under the guidance of Dr. V. Prabakaran, Head, Media Studies, as Convenor, along with Ms. P. Yuvarani, Programme Coordinator of Visual Communication as Co-Convenor, and staff coordinators Ms. Sindhuja Sivaji and Mr. Harigaran, Assistant Professors, Department of Visual Communication.
