The Department of Visual Communication, School of Media Studies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized an Intercollegiate Painting Contest in celebration of International Women’s Day on 9th March 2026 from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM at the Preview Theatre, PG Dental Block. The event saw the participation of 85 students from various colleges across Chennai and was conducted in collaboration with Camel and Sri Viba Stores.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Thirumagan, Dean, Faculty of Science & Humanities, who encouraged the participants and distributed canvases to mark the beginning of the competition. The valedictory session was graced by Ms. Priya Prince, actor, who appreciated the participants and announced the winners. Trophies and certificates were awarded to recognize their efforts.
The programme was convened by Dr. V. Prabakaran (Head, Media Studies) and coordinated by Dr. D. Saravanan and Ms. Haripriya B.K, with the support of student volunteers.
The event promoted creativity, confidence, and awareness on women’s empowerment, while also encouraging inclusive participation and artistic expression among students.
