Welcoming the Batch of 2026–2027 – Freshers’ Induction at SRM FSH
The Freshers’ Induction Program for the Batch 2026–2027 of the Faculty of Science and Humanities was successfully conducted on Wednesday, 8 July 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Open Air Theatre, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai. Around 2500 first-year students from various departments attended the event, marking an enthusiastic and vibrant beginning to their academic journey.
The program commenced with the invocation (Tamizhthai Vazhthu), followed by the traditional lighting of the kuthuvilakku, symbolizing the beginning of a new academic journey. The Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities, Dr. Sakthiganesh, delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the freshers and emphasizing the importance of academic excellence, discipline, and holistic development.
Dr. N. Sethuraman, Chief Director, delivered the felicitation address, highlighting the institution’s achievements and encouraging students to make the most of the opportunities provided. Dr. R. Shivakumar, Chairman of SRM Group of Institutions, delivered the presidential address, sharing valuable insights on education, responsibility, and the role of youth in shaping the future.
The highlight of the event was the inaugural address delivered by the Chief Guest, Ms. Kanchan Khedkar, Head HR, HCL GUVI. Her speech was highly impressive and engaging, as she interacted actively with the students, making the session lively and meaningful. She motivated the students to embrace learning with curiosity and confidence. A memorable moment of the program was when she led the students in taking an oath on their induction day, instilling a sense of responsibility, commitment, and ethical values among the newcomers.
The Deputy Dean (Administration), Dr. R. Balabhaskar, introduced the Heads of the Departments, providing the students with an overview of their academic leadership. The program concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Deputy Dean (Academics), Dr. V. Saravanan, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, faculty members, and students for their presence and contribution. The event came to an end with the National Anthem.
The Freshers’ Induction Program served as a meaningful beginning for the new batch, creating a sense of belonging and motivating students to embark on their academic journey with enthusiasm and purpose.
