The Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science of Humanities, SRM IST- Ramapuram has successfully organized a “National Conference on Avenues of Biotechnology for Sustainability (NCABS – 2024)” on 23rd March 2024. The inaugural event started at 9.30 am. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Kavi Sidharthan, Scientist, ICFRE, Hyderabad on the importance of biotechnology-based detection of viruses has revolutionized the field of virus diagnosis. This was followed by oral presentations from the participants. A total of 60 abstracts were contributed by 90 academicians and students. Apart from Tamil Nadu, participants from 7 different states of our country have actively shared their knowledge. In the evening, Dr. Kathiravan, Founder, Salt Crops, Gujarat delivered his valedictory address on how to impart and involve novel technologies to attain self-sustainability in the future. Finally, the winners of the oral presentations were announced by the HoD/Biotech. The event is officially closed by 3.30 pm.
