12.07.2021 to 25.07.2021

?️ The Department of Computer Science & Applications is organizing a   Two Weeks Online International Faculty Development Program

Day 10 – FDP Session

Date and Time: 21th July, 05.00 pm – 06.30 pm

Total Number of Participants: 145

Chief Guest:

Prof. Rama Chellappa

Bloomberg Distinguished Professor

Department of Biomedical Engineering

(School of Medicine) and

Electrical and Computer Engineering

(Whiting School of Engineering)

Johns Hopkins University Baltimore

Maryland, USA

Topic: Design of Fair, Robust and Interpretable AI Systems

WELCOME ADDRESS DR.J. DHILIPAN HOD-MCA AND VICE PRINCIPAL-ADMIN

============

? DR.J. DHILIPAN VICE PRINCIPAL ADMIN and HOD MCA presented the welcome address. During his address he welcomed the chief guest of today’s function and expressed his gratitude for accepting our invitation

? He quoted that AI is paving the way for new ways to enhance people’s lives all across the world, from business to healthcare to education. Also raises additional concerns regarding how to best include fairness, interpretability, privacy and security into these systems. AI systems have the ability to learn and adapt as they make decisions.

? Mr.D.Rajkumar- Assistant Professor/MCA  read the chief guest profile and introduced the guest to the audience

 Day 10 – Technical Session

=================

? Prof. Rama Chellappa started the session with brief history of AI and Deep learning for computer vision with case study in face recognition. AI for smart transportation. Key problems in deep learning and partial solutions like Bias, Vulnerability to attacks and interpretability

? He also explained about different directions and AI techniques have to led to many applications. Face recognition, Computer Vision and Black box intelligence.

? He explained very elaborately about the deep learning system for unconstrained and constrained face verification with gang of networks using video-based face identifications. He explained about Natural language-based vehicle retrieval.

? Prof. Rama Chellappa then explained about Interpretability: FR networks attend to different spatial regions depending on demographic groups and explained about AI for smart transportation with real time examples and compared with qualitative results. Also explained about different attack types.

? He concluded by explaining how the AI is broad and all encompassing. Bias or perceived lack of fairness, Robustness to adversarial attacks and move from black box decision making interpretability.

? Then the entire session was opened to the audience for clarification of their doubts and interaction. The entire session was much useful for all the participants

? Mr. N. Krishnamoorthy- Assistant Professor/MCA presented the vote of thanks for the day 10 technical session
