PDP REPORT

Name of the event : Five Days International Professional Development Program (PDP) on Research Analysis for Social Science

Department of Commerce(ISM) organized Five Days “International professional Development Program (PDP) on Research Analysis for Social Sciences” from 13th July 2021 to 17th July 2021. This has been chosen and organized to understand the fundamental concept of research Analysis and practical exposure in data Analysis. The main aim of this Professional Development Program (PDP) is to cover the basic theoretical part in research Analysis and also data analysis using SPSS.

DAY 1 (MONDAY – 13th JULY 2021 @ 6.00 PM (IST) INAUGURAL FUNCTION

The programme started with “தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்து” followed by digital lighting of lamp at Inaugural  Ceremony.  Dr.  Ramu  Vasu carried

out the Emcee  for the  first day  program.  Dr.  A.

Jayabal, HOD of Commerce delivered the welcome address. Dr. M. Suresh, Head Incharge – Department of Information Systems Management highlighted the program objectives. Dr. Ramu Vasu Assistant Professor ( S G ) hosted the event with great enthusiasm. Mrs. A. Meera, Assistant Professor introduced the guest to the gatherings

DAY 1 – SESSION

First day session was delivered by an eminent speaker Dr. R. Bhavani Devi, Administrator, Indian Language School, Nigeria on the topic of

Get-Set-Go-Easy way to kick start research. She gave ideas, stepsand important tips to start the research. She suggests some broad topics for social science research and explain the steps for research. She insisted the participants to start collecting the articles, discuss the refined topics with supervisor, and always keep following university updates.Participants    also                                                participated enthusiastically  and  clarified  their doubts relevant

to subject .The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. RamuVasu Assistant Professor of Commerce (ISM).

DAY 2– SESSION

Second day session was delivered by an eminent speaker Dr. K. Jawahar Rani, Professor, Department of Management Studies, St. Joseph College of Engineering, Chennai on the topic of “Parametric and Non Parametric Test. The

Programme Started with Official Welcome Speech by Dr M. Suresh, Head in charge of ISM department and convenor of PDP. Dr. Ramu Vasu Assistant Professor ( S G ) hosted the event with great enthusiasm. Mrs. A. Meera, Assistant Professor introduced the guest to the gatherings. Dr. K. Jawahar Rani gave an in depth explanation to Hypothesis , how parametric test and non parametric test evolved and how to choose a test for our  study.  Further,  she  gave  detailed explanation

towards measurement of scale (nominal and ordinal). An exemplary explanation was given

towards stages in data analysis. Session accomplished with active interaction by the participants with the guest. More than 300 participants participated in zoom along with 30+ views in face book. The session was highly commented by various professors and research scholars. Dr. Ramu Vasu, Assistant Professor of Commerce (ISM) gave formal vote of thanks.

DAY 3 SESSION I

There were two sessions in day three. First session was handled by eminent guest speaker Dr.

Welcome Speech by Dr M. Suresh, Head in charge of ISM department and convenor of PDP. Dr. Ramu Vasu Assistant Professor (Sl.G) hosted the event with great enthusiasm. Mrs. A. Meera, Assistant Professor introduced the guest to the gatherings. Dr. R Mahesh gave meticulously explanation towards choosing a research topic and focusing on research methodology. He put forward towards interacting with research group like collaborating the research

ideas and sharing research ideas, same way he mentioned how to deal with research data. Conclusively he represented quality of research and research problem.

Session II

Second session handled by guest speaker Dr. U. Madhanraj, Assistant Professor (S.G), Department of Management Studies, Saveetha Engineering College, Chennai.     He  kicked   off   his   presentation towards

„Regression Analysis‟. He started from basic concepts of Regression, techniques and assumptions. Further, he explained about how to select variables for the research and illustrate suitable example by displaying a research article. He explained details towards variable  selection  and  how  to  analyze  it  in  SPSS

software. Session accomplished with active interaction by the participants with both the guests. More than 275 participants participated in zoom along with 30+ views in face book. The session was highly commented by various professors and research scholars from India and abroad. Mrs. A. Meera, Faculty Coordinator, gave formal vote of thanks.

DAY 4 – SESSION

The program started with official Welcome Speech by Dr M. Suresh, Head in charge of ISM department and convenor of PDP. The fourth day session was delivered by an eminent speaker Guest Speaker Dr. Eronimus Anthonysamy, Assistant Professor,  Central University of Punjab, Punjab on the topic of “ANOVA”. He  was introduced to  Audience  by Mrs.

  1. Meera, Programmer Coordinator of PDP. He gave

skillful explanation towards ANOVA and how to use it in SPSS. He also mentioned the various types of ANOVA involved in statistical research. In addition, he explained how to test assumption in SPSS and given hand on training in it. He also explained about hypothesis testing and when to reject a hypothesis and accept a hypothesis.

Participants also participated enthusiastically and clarified their doubts relevant to subject. More than 267 participants participated in zoom along with 12+ views in face book. The session was highly commented by various professors and research scholars from India and abroad. Mrs. A. Meera, Faculty Coordinator, gave formal vote of thanks.

DAY 5 – SESSION

Fifth day session was delivered by an eminent speaker Dr. R. Ravanan, Join Director of Collegiate Education, Chennai Region, Chennai on the

topic of “SEM using AMOS”. The program started with official Welcome Speech by Dr M. Suresh, Head in charge of ISM department and convenor of PDP. He was introduced to Audience by Mrs. A. Meera, Assistant Professor of Commerce (ISM). Dr. Ramu Vasu Assistant Professor (Sl.G) hosted the event with great enthusiasm. . Resource person Dr. R. Ravanan had  shared  his intellectual  skills with the participants.

He  explained  in  detail  about  SEM  Model  techniques

and AMOS. He gave ideas and steps to do SEM using AMOS. He spearheaded the session interactively with the participants. The session was very informative and interactive. Participants also participated enthusiastically and clarified their doubts relevant to subject on the fly. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. A. Meera, Assistant Professor of Commerce (ISM).

VALEDICTORY CEREMONY

At the Valedictory function, welcome address was given by Dr. A. Jayabal, HoD – Department of Commerce, followed by Felicitation

Address given by Dr. N. Ashokan, Vice Principle – Academics. Dr. M. Suresh, Head in charge ISM presented the report on IPDP. Dr. Ramu Vasu Assistant Professor ( S G ) hosted the event with great enthusiasm. To honor the guests Mrs. A.Meera displayed E – certificate and thanks the guest for their participation. Later participants shared their experience towards the program and finally Mrs. A Meera , Assistant Professor gave vote of the thanks and thanked Principal Dr. C. Sundar, Vice Principal – Academic      Dr.      N.Ashokan, Vice Principal

Administration Dr. J. Dhilipan, AF & ISM department staffs. The International Professional development program was concluded by National Anthem at the end.
