Department of Commerce(ISM) organized Two Days workshop on Excel for Data Analysis for Final year B.com students on 22nd and 23rd October 2021 from 10.00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The main aim of this workshop is to provide hands on training in Data analysis and to cover the fundamentals of statistical tools using Excel.

Dr. M Suresh Head In-charge B. Com ISM delivered the welcome address and highlighted the program objectives. Dr. Ramu Vasu Assistant Professor (SL G ) hosted the event with great enthusiasm. Mrs. A. Meera, Assistant Professor introduced the guest to the gatherings. The two days session was handled by eminent speaker Mr. Arun Kumar, Director, Arun Academy, Chennai.

On first day, he gave ideas and important tips for data Analysis in Excel. He explained in detail about questioner preparation and data collection methods. Further, continued the session on how to select variables for the data analysis in Excel with suitable examples. The session was followed with covering three statistical techniques – Correlation, Regression analysis and T Test using Excel.

Second Day was started with the explanation on Chi-squared test, Factor Analysis and ANOVA using Excel. In addition, he explained on how to test assumption in Excel and given hands on training in it. Further to the above, he provided insight on hypothesis testing, when to reject a hypothesis and accept a hypothesis.

The whole workshop was interesting, informative and interactive.  Students participated enthusiastically and clarified their doubts relevant to subject, which in-turn helped Final year students for their projects. Nearly 100+ students participated.  The program ended up with formal vote of thanks, that was delivered by Mrs .A Meera  Assistant Professor.
