The Department of Biotechnology, College of Science and Humanities, SRMIST, Ramapuram has conducted a Virtual International Conference on “Recent Advances in Biotechnology and Environmental Health Research” (RABEHR-2021)in association with the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Bioresource and Food Industry, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Terengganu, Malaysia on 28 – 29th October 2021.

Day 1 (28th October 2021, Thursday)

Day 1 was started with praying to the almighty and lamp lighting ceremony. Welcome address and about the conference was given by Dr.S.Suresh, Head of the Department (I/C)/Biotechnology. Followed by Conference proceeding was released by our dignitaries. Special address was delivered by Dr.V.Subbiah Bharathi, Director, SRMIST. Felicitation address was given by Dr.N.Asokan, VP (Academic), Dr.J.Dhilipan , VP (Admin,) Dr. Venkatachalapathy Dean Research, on appreciating the department for making this virtual conference a grand success.  Dr.C.Sundar, Dean (S&H) in his felicitation address, expressed his happiness and congratulated the department of biotechnology, faculties and students for their continuous support and coordination  in organizing the conference. The introduction of chief guests was given by Dr G Priya, Asst. professor/Biotechnology.

 

Special address was given by our guest Dr U.S.Mahadeva Rao, Faculty of Medicine, UniSZA, Malaysia and Inaugural address was delivered by Prof Dr.Harmy Bin Mohamed Yusoff, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, UniSZA. Vote of thanks was given by Dr.S.Manimegalai, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology. Inaugural function was ended with National Anthem. MC desk was shared by Students of Biotechnology P.Madhumitha and B.Sana. Plenary session 1 was given by Dr U.S.Mahadeva Rao , Faculty of Medicine UniSZA and introduction of Dr.Khamsah Suryati Mohd was given by Dr. S.Manimegalai, Asst. Professor /Biotechnology. In Plenary session 3 was started with Guest Introduction of Dr. Simab Kanwal, Research Fellow, Faculty of Pharmaceutical sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Overall, 30 oral presentations were made by various contributors of many colleges. Day 1 sessions were successfully fulfilled and the participants were informed about Day 2 session.

Day 2 (29th October 2021, Friday)

Day 2 was started with Plenary session 5 and MC desk was shared by Students of Biotechnology Aishwarya and Smiriti.The introduction of chief Guest, Dr.Sahaya Pravin, Lab Manager Specialized Medical Solutions Doha, Qatar was given by Dr. G.Priya. Overall, 25 oral presentations and 33 poster presentations were made by various contributors of many colleges. Plenary session 6 was started with introducing chief guest Dr.R.Jayavel, Professor and Director Centre for Nanoscience and Technology Anna University, Chennai by Dr.G.Priya, Assistant Professor (Biotechnology).

After these successful sessions, the day 2 was ended with Valedictory function which starts with “Tamizh Thai Vazhthu”. Overall summarization of two days conference was given by Dr.S.Suresh, Head of the Department (I/C)/Biotechnology. Followed by Prize distribution of various interesting presentations of two days was announced by Dr.S.Manimegalai, Assistant Professor (Biotechnology). Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr.G.Rajendran, Assistant Professor (Biotechnology). Valedictory function was finely ended up with National Anthem.
