One – Week National Level Faculty Development Program (FDP)

The Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram campus has organized a virtual one-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Research Prospects and Progress in Biological Science (RPBB – 2022) from 04.07.2021 to 10.07.2022.

           Totally, 322 faculties, teachers and research scholars all over from many institutions were registered for this program. In this seven-day FDP program, seven distinguished speakers from various leading institutions were invited to deliver lectures.

Day 1 – Prof. T. Sekar, Department of Environmental Science, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak – Biological Applications of Bamboo.

Day 2 – Dr. G. Sudhandiran, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, University of Madras, Chennai – Death by a thousand cuts: Evolution of cell death.

Day 3 – Dr. A.K. Sreekala, Principal Scientist, Conservation Biology Division, Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram – Plant reproductive biological investigators – the ways and means of biodiversity conservation.

Day 4 – Dr. R. Rukkumani, Associate Professor and Head (i/c), Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry – Nanomedicine for cancer therapy.

Day 5 – Dr. R. Manikandan, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Madras, Chennai – Healthcare applications of herbal biomolecules.

Day 6 – Dr. D. Illakkiam, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal – Computational analysis of bacterial genome sequencing.

Day 7 – Dr. W. Anupma Harshal, Project Manager, Pune Knowledge Cluster – Effective tools in STEM education.

Overall, we received 138 positive feedbacks from the participants, who have actively attended all sessions and also, they made active interactions with all resource persons which made this FDP more beneficial. Many participants suggested to conduct many such programmes in future.
