Vintage Camera Exhibition

The Department of Visual Communication, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram Campus organized a Vintage Camera Show on 23rd September 2022. The resource person of the event was Dr. A. V. Arun, Founder – Vintage Camera Museum, ECR – Kovalam. Department of Visom, SRMIST Ramapuram exhibited more than100 vintage cameras from his rare collections.

The program started with the inauguration of the Vintage Camera Exhibition by our Chief Director N.Sethuraman SRMIST, Ramapuram Campus along with the Chief Guest Dr. A.V. Arun, Founder – Vintage Camera Museum, followed with lighting the Kuthuvilaku by our Chief Director N.Sethuraman, Chief Guest Dr. A.V. Arun, Founder – Vintage Camera Museum, Dean M.Venkataramanan(S&H) and Dr. Dhamu, Project Director – Media Sciences.

Welcome address presented by Dr. V. Prabhakaran, Associate Professor and Head, Viscom Department, SRMIST, Ramapuram Campus. The exhibition displayed more than 100 vintage cameras that highlights technological advancements over the course of a century and also includes several rare ones with cameras dating from 1885 to 2000, from film slides to Polaroid cameras, from cameras used in war planes during World War II to tiny spy cameras and so on.

This Vintage Camera Exhibition also had an educational speech by the Resource person on ‘History of Photography’ that included enthralling information about the evolution of cameras, technical advancements and so on. Additionally, we had an interaction session with students of the Viscom Department about Photography and Framing Techniques. And vote of thanks given by P S Padmavathy, Assistant Professor, Viscom Department also the coordinator of the event. The Exhibition was open till 4pm for Staff and students.
