MoC of this event was given by Dr.Surya Susan Thomas. Welcome address has been given by Dr.S.Umarani, HoD / CS. Mrs.T.Kanimozhi introduced the speakers of this session. She gave brief about what is PDP and Need of Pedagogy in Teaching. The main objective of this programme is to make Teaching more innovative and to create interesting for students who are the blooming stars.

Introduction about the speaker was given by Dr. Ramya Devi, AP, Department of Computer Science. She Highlighted the importance of Pedagogy in teaching and approaches of pedagogy. She explained what the tools from for using Digital Pedagogy are. She also gave brief introduction about pedagogies like Edmodo, Socrative, ClassDojo, Animoto, Kahoot. She also gave live presentation about these tools in a brief.

Introduction about the speaker was given by Dr.V.Poornima, AP, Department of Computer Science.

 

She enlightened about the need of this KWL Chart. She explained the physical evidence of what the student has learnt and how teachers can use in student report cards and teaching portfolios. She expounded about how KWL charts works between students and Teachers. She highlighted students are provided an appropriate balance of support and freedom. Teacher has ample time to assess students’ abilities. She also expanded the steps and methods for I Do, We Do, You Do. Total numbers of participants were 54. He emphasized the significance of pedagogy in teaching and various pedagogical Tools. He embeded the Slido tool in Microsoft Presentation to make an effective Presentation. Next, He Explain about how to use video lectures. Additionally, He added the polling methods for the final assessments. He elucidated the importance of team teaching strategies are simplest form where all teachers of a subject collectively teach a class in that subject.To increase flexibility in grouping and scheduling as the team teaching groups students according to their interests and aptitudes in the subjects.Assigning duties to teachers, such as lead lecture, follow up work and supervision their interest   and competencies. Deciding ways and means to be adopted for evaluating the student performance. Gain new insights into their disciplines. Improve student learning outcomes, interpersonal skills, Communication skills, analysis and judgement. Topic: Tools for creating Technology based Learning Environment & Assessment.

 

He discussed about Technology based Learning Environment and Learning Assessment. He demonstrated about the two digital tools Ed Puzzle and Hot Potatoes. He gave live demonstration on EDpuzzle teaching tool. It used to place interactive content into pre-existing videos from a variety of sources, such as TED or YouTube or self-made videos. Additionally, he gave quick live presentation on Hot potatoes. It is used to create interactive Web-based teaching exercises which can be delivered to any Internet-connected computer equipped with a browser.

Topic: Tools for Creating Learning Environment and Assessment, Summarization,  Thumbs up and Thumbs down and Ted Ed Tool.

 

He explained about the following two methods. They are

 

  1. Thumbs Down, Thumbs Up.
  2. Summative Methods

 

Thumbs down, thumbs up is a simple strategy for getting immediate feedback from students. During a lesson, pause after each step to get instant thumbs down, thumbs up feedback on whether students understand the previous step. He expounded the benefits for teacher which enables the teacher to gauge students’ reactions in real time, Gives the students an opportunity to give the teacher feedback immediately so that they don’t fall behind or become frustrated. Summative assessments take place at the end of a unit of work and are often the formal final / overall grading of a student’s knowledge. He also explained the benefits Summative assessments are necessary for providing a final grade for a student and are often required by school boards, Summative assessments give students something to strive towards which may keep them motivated and encourage them to study, Additionally, he gave quick live presentation on Ted Tools. She explained how to record a screen video presentations using Screencastify. She demonstrated how to edit, trim and share the video in a virtual classroom. Open Education Resources (OER) is used to develop the e-content. Creative Common license is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of a copyrighted work. Creative Common license is used when an author wants to give other people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that the author has created. Creative Common license are used to collect the text content, images & videos to prepare e-content not only for education purpose it can also used for commercial purpose. Five Strategies To Help You Build An Inquiry-Based Classroom, Visual Concept Diagram of IQL Strategy, How to add questions to a personalized element when choosing inquiry-based learning projects. Topic: Differentiation, Hotseat, 60 Seconds and Pop Quiz Pedagogical methods

 

She commenced the second session with an introduction to Differentiated pedagogical concept and then moved on to its objectives, importance and advantages of differentiated instruction in today are teaching methodology. Hot seat pedagogy was explained by her with real time examples and illustrations. Implementation methods of this pedagogy were also explained. She then proceeded to describe the sixty second strategy; it’s effectiveness in the classroom and the pros and cons in implementing it. A video clipping was also played to make the concept clear. She elucidated on introducing Pop quiz in a classroom frequently to enhance student’s interests and readiness in learning a concept. The session was concluded with an introduction of an online quiz application called Quizizz to the participants. Dr. V. Poornima started her session with an opening note and introduced the first speaker of the day. Dr. R. Ramyadevi explained the blended learning that provides face-to-face learning experiences with online learning. She gave a brief view of how Triad approach to blended learning will help the new education platform. She also discussed in detail how to restructure Learning Outcomes, Assessment Activities, Support for Before a Synchronous Session, During a Synchronous Session and After a Synchronous Session, Tools enabling the above activities were introduced for better student engagement. Finally, She concluded with the Importance of Blended Learning and ways to redesign online courses for active and collaborative learning experiences.

Topic :  Micro Teaching and Technical skills for effective leaning

 

She started the session with two objectives: Microteaching and Padlet for effective teachingShe gave the detailed explanation about what is Microteaching and what are the difference between the traditional teaching and micro teaching. She discussed about 6 skills of microteaching like Introduction Skill, Skill of Probing Questions, Skill of Explanation, Skill of Stimulus VariationSkill of Black-board Writing, Skill of Achieving Closure, She also gave a brief demonstration of Padlet tool with following steps, How to download and create padlet wall, How to add the contents into padlet wall which we created, How to post the padlet link to the social media.Finally She concluded with Importance of Mictoteaching and padlet for effective learners.
