The Webinar was started with a formal welcome address delivered by Dr. S. Suresh, Senior Assistant Professor followed by the chief guest introduction was given by Dr. A. Ancy Jenifer, Assistant Professorand the session of handed over to guest speaker Dr.Mahendrakumar, Innovation Ambassador (Ministry of Education, Govt. of India) and Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Gurunanak College. He delivered a talk on “Importance of Intellectual Property Rights and its Management”. He highlighted about intellectual property, significance of intellectual property, its overview, types of intellectual property rights, intellectual property laws in india, trademarks, copyrights, geographical indications and the most important intellectual property ie patent, its sections and its stages, a special mention about life sciences patent, cases of IPR exploitation and scope and job oppurtunes for life science students.
