Chief Guest Profile

Dr. K.S. ANTONYSAMY, M.A., M. Phil., M.Ed., Ph.D., is Head, Department of English, Loyola College, Chennai. He has twenty sevenyears of teaching experience at Loyola College. In addition, he is the Associate Faculty of Loyola Institute of Business Administration. Formerly, he was Director of WEPRO, Dean of Students, Divisional Commander of NCC Navy, Adviser of All India Catholic University Students Federation and the Secretary of Teaching Staff Association at Loyola College. He also serves as an Adviserto the southern region of Staff Selection Commission, Government of India.

English Language Teaching is his areaof research. He is a specialist in Literary Theory and Criticism along with English for Specific Purposesspecifically Business English Communication. He has so far conducted over 300 seminars and workshops on Soft Skills and Executive Communication&Email Writingfor middle level managers at corporate sectors. He has been offering training on Leader Effectiveness, Effective Communication Skills, Personality Development, Motivation and Time Management for Teachers and students. He has also been invited as a resource person to conduct Teacher Development Programsall over India.

His recent publications include General English Reader, Executive Communication, English for Language Skills, Soft Skills and Personality Development: A Handbook of Employability Skills, Doing Research in ELT   and Learn Unlearn and Relearn. He has guided more than 40 M.Phil scholars of various Universities.

He has organised a two day national level UGC sponsored seminar on “Voice of the Voiceless, a two day National Workshop on “Doing Research in ELT, a one day state level Workshop on “Virtual Learning”, a two day national workshop on “Mobile Learning. In addition, he has completed UGC approved minor research project titled “Effective Implementation of CCE”.

He was also invited to contribute and participate in an International Conference held in Glasgow, UK. Further, he presented a research paper in 4th European Conference held in Paris.

In recognition of all these academic accomplishments, he was conferred with the Best Teacher Award by GRABS Educational Charitable Trust, Chennai on January 22, 2017 and Best Mentor Award by Dr Kalam Educational Trust, Chennai on Oct 15, 2019. In addition, he was endowed with Dr T.N.Ananthakrishnan Research Award for Arts in March 2020 by Loyola College for the highest number of research publications.

The Department of English and other Foreign Languages, College of Science and Humanities, SRMIST – Ramapuram, organized a state level workshop on ‘Nuances of Creative Writing’ for B.A English students on 30th March 2023. The Programme began with the welcome address by Dr. G. Immanuel, Headi/c, EFL and then our Resource person Dr. K. S. Antonysamy, Prof.& Head from Loyola College deliberated on thenuances of creative writing from the rudimentary level and he also enlightened the audience in an exuberant way on the various types of creative writing. The session was ended with Vote of thanks by the coordinator of the event Mrs. M. Nathiya, AP/EFL and the students found the sessionenjoyable and informative. The attendees registered positive feedback.
