Rebus Puzzles in Physics

To encourage the science interest among the young budding students the department of physics organized an online event Rebus Puzzles in Physics from 22 June to 23 June for the benefit of +2 and diploma students. The students from various schools and institutions participated actively in the event. A Rebus is a puzzle device which combines the illustrated pictures to depict a word. In this competition we have collaged more than two pictures to get physics terminology. We gave 30 puzzles in this Rebus. We have received good response from all over the state. It was very interesting for the participants and they felt happy and enthusiastically answered the puzzles. Dr. L. Sudha, HoD/Physics is the convener of the Rebus puzzle in physics. The staff coordinator for the Rebus puzzle in physics is Dr. V. Jayalakshmi, Assistant Professor (Sr.G). The student coordinators are
Mr. Jaisurya and Ms. Samyuktha from B.Sc Physics. We thank everyone who has supported us in organizing this Rebus puzzle in Physics.

We feel happy to share the success of “Workshop on ENERGY PHYSICS” for +2 and diploma students organized by Department of Physics, SRMIST, Ramapuram Campus on 25th May 2020.
The program was presided over by Dr. C. Sundar, Dean(S&H), SRM IST and started with warm welcome address by Dr. L. Sudha, Professor and Head, Department of Physics, Convener of Workshop. Dr. L. Sudha, presented a talk on “Introduction to Energy Physics”. Dr. V. Jayalakshmi Assistant Professor(Sr.G) gave enlightening talks on “Fuel cell and Biomass”. Dr. T. Beena, Assistant Professor(S.G) presented a talk on “Carbon Capture & Storage, Hydrogen has Fuel and Methane Hydrate”. Dr. K. Subramanian, Assistant Professor(Sr.G) delivered a lecture on “Geothermal Energy”. Dr. S. Ranjith, Assistant Professor(Sr.G) gave in sights on “Career Guidance” for students. The talk by the faculty members and career guidance was well received by the students. 85 participants (+2 and Diploma students) attended the workshop.
The students interacted with the presenters soon after the sessions. The sessions were very vibrant and the two short brain teasers held in between the sessions rekindled the youngsters’ enthusiasm. The students gave very good feedback about the programme. Dr. T. Beena, Assistant Professor(S.G) presented the vote of thanks at the end of the program.
