Mini Project Contest 2018


Our students took part in various events in French Cultural Fest "ESPOIR" which was organized by M.O.P Vaishnav College on 17.08.2019. Events like Cooking without fire, Quiz, Mélange (Dumbcharade), Best out of waste and Singing were conducted. Deepthi and Nethra of I year BCA ‘A’ won First Prize in Cooking without Fire (French recipie) and Second place in Melange Our students were the Runners-up in Best out of Waste. Ms.Ven Alagu Nivedha, Asst.Prof. in French accompanied the students.

English Journal Club

The Department of English and other Foreign Languages inaugurated Journal club activity on Aug 30, 2019 for I & II BA English Literature students. The journal club commenced with a discussion on the Booker prize, its history and the achievers under the category. The students with staff members were among the many participants.

National Conference

The Department of English and other Foreign Languages in association with RSRI organized a two day National Conference on "Contemporaneity of Language and Literature in the Robotized Millennium" on 4th and 5th October 2019.

Quiz Club

The Department of English and other Foreign Languages organized the inauguration of the Quiz club on October 16, 2019, for the students of Science and Humanities. The Chief Guest, Dr. Immanuel, Asst Professor of English, RMK College of Engineering & Technology inaugurated the club in the august presence of Dr. C. Sundar, Dean, Dr.J.Dhillipan, VP( Academic) and Dr.Arunkumar, VP(Admin). The Office bearers were installed. This was followed by a quiz competition for the students. About 60 students participated. Prizes were awarded to the winners.

Book Review

The department of English and other Foreign Languages- Paarivendhar Students Tamil Association organised a TAMIL BOOK REVIEW for the year 2019-20 on Sept. 30, 2019. Several participants (both students and faculty) presented their reviews on selected books and authors. Mrs.A. Asha Jenefer Manorah, faculty of EFL, reviewed the book Indiaya Kalviyin Irunda Kaalam, a collection of Essays. Mr. Suresh, faculty of Chemistry, reviewed the book Simma Sopoanam by Marudhan; Mr. Dheenan, 2nd year Film Tech, reviewed the book Enna Solgiradhu Desiya Kalvi kolgai 2019 by Ila. Shanmuga Sundaram; Ms. Janani, 1st year B.Com, reviwed the book Aesappaattu by Tamzhilchchelvan and Mr. Gokhul, final year B.Tech, reviewed the book Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki. The event was organized by Mr. G. Ganesh, faculty of EFL (Tamil).

Tamil Competitions

The department of English and other Foreign Languages- Tamil Wing conducted Oratorical contest, Verse-writing and Drawing competitions for the students of Science & Humanities and Management Studies on Feb. 19, 2020. More than 100 students participated in these contests like never before. The Dean Dr. C. Sundar, the VP (Academic) Dr. Dhilipan, the VP (Admin), Dr. Arun Kumar and the HoD of EFL, Dr. V Rema congratulated the winners and appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation.

Tamil Debate Forum

The department of English & other Foreign Langauages, Tamil wing conducted a Debate Forum on Jan. 30, 2020 at the Central Library. The Dean, Dr. C.Sundar delivered the inaugural address. The VP (Academic), the VP (Admin) and Head of Department of EFL graced the occasion. The HoDs, the faculty members and the students from all the departments of Science and Humanities and Management Studies participated in the program. The student participants debated on the topic ‘The Impact of Social Media on Students”. Assistant Professor, Dr. Agasthiyar, Department of BCA acted as judge and highlighted the pros and cons of social media and the constructive use of them.

The event co-ordinator Mr. P. Elango, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, welcomed the dignitaries and Tamil Mandram co-ordinator Mr. G. Ganesh, proposed vote of thanks.

Guest Lecture on Three Incompleteness theorems about Arithmetic

Department of Mathematics organized a guest lecture by Prof. Arindama Singh, Department of Mathematics, IIT Madras on “Three Incompleteness theorems about Arithmetic” as a part of Faculty Development Programme on 27th February 2019.

Mathema 2020

The department of Mathematics has organized Math Fest " Mathema 2020" for the students that articulates on basic mathematics skills on 13.02.2020. Competitions were Sudoku, Quiz, Number Ninjas

2nd National Conference on Recent trends in Fuzzy Mathematics and its Applications

The Department of Mathematics has organized 2nd National Conference on “Recent trends in Fuzzy Mathematics and its Applications” (NCRTFMA - 2018) on 26th and 27th October 2018.The purpose of this conference is to bring together leading academic scientists, experts from industry and young researchers and provide a platform for discussion on recent advances and developments in Fuzzy Mathematics and its Applications.

National Science Day 2020

This year Department of Science and Technology has the theme of National Science Day 2020 as “Women in Science”. To encourage the people, as well as popularize science and technology, our department is arranging a guest lecture for the students and faculty members by a renowned scientist, Mrs.Swarna Ramesh, Scientist,CVRDE,DRDO, Avadi, Chennai

National Conference on “Progress in Mathematics towards Industrial Applications”

The National conference on “Progress in Mathematics towards Industrial Applications” organized by the Department of Mathematics, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Ramapuram campus, on 27th and 28th September 2019; was aimed to promote interaction between academy and industry, leading to innovation in both fields and providing unique opportunity to discuss the latest ideas, problems and methodologies, and contributing to the advancement of science and technology to benefit the society.

Guest Lecture on Stress Management

The Department of Mathematics organized a Guest Lecture for students and faculty members on “Stress Management “ on 11th February 2020. Dr. Hansa Lyasander Manohar, Professor, Anna University was the guest speaker.
The Guest Lecture began with the welcome address by Dr. Shakeela Sathish, Head, Department of Mathematics. The topics of personality, different behavioral patterns were discussed and a questionnaire on the same to analyze the nature of the person was distributed and a self analysis was made to be done.

Women’s Day celebration

Department of Mathematics organized a guest lecture by Dr. Geetha Rajan, Gynaecology and Obstetrics specialist, M/O in Heavy Vehicle Factory hospital, Avadi on the topic “Health, hygiene and women related issues” on 11th March 2019 as a part of Women’s Day Celebration. Finally, prize distribution by Chief Guest to the winners of various events conducted by Department of Mathematics to first year B.Sc., Mathematics students was held. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. P. Lalitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics. The guest lecture was fruitful where girl students and faculty members learnt about the importance of women health, hygiene and safety.

Workshop on “Differential Equations and Its Applications

Department of Mathematics organized one day workshop on “Differential Equations and Its Applications” on 7th March, 2019. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together experts and young researchers and provide a common platform for discussion on recent advances and developments in Differential Equations and its Applications. More than 50 participants from various institutions participated in this workshop.

Tamil Kaviarangam

The department of English and Foreign Languages TamiL wing celebrated Bharathiyar’s Birthday on Dec 11, 2019 at the Central Library. The Dean , Dr. C. Sundar, presided over the function and delivered the inaugural address. The guest speaker Dr. P.K. Prabhakaran, Head of the Department of Tamil, Madhuranthagam Sanskrit College, spoke on Bharathiyar’s mulit-faceted personality. The event coordinator, Dr. A. Bharatharaja welcomed the dignitaries and the participants; and Mr. P. Elango proposed the vote of thanks. The faculty member Mrs. K C Mythili, Assistant Professor of English recited her tamil poem titled ‘Pazhayana Kazhidhal” and Dr. RajKamal, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, recited his poem on Bharathiyar. Several students from all departments participated enthusiastically and read out the poems penned down by them.

Tamil Pattimandram

SRMIST, Ramapuram, Science and Humanities, on Sept.06, 2019 the Tamil wing of the Department of EFL organized a Patti mandram (a debate forum) on the status of India after 73 years of independence. The Dean (S&H), Dr. Sundar and the Vice Principal Academic, Dr. Dhilipan, spoke on the occasion. The students were awarded prizes at the end of the session.

Tamil Mandram

The Department of English and other Foreign Languages Tamil wing inaugurated a debate forum on Aug 27, 2019 at the Central Library. Dean , Dr. C. Sundar, presided over the function and delivered the inaugural address. The HoD of EFL, Dr. V. Rema, congratulated the faculty members for their initiation to organize the event.
Tamil wing coordinator, Mr. G. Ganesh, welcomed the dignitaries and the participants; and Mr. P. Elango proposed the vote of thanks. Various faculty members and students from other departments graced the occasion too

Vasagar vattam

The Department of English and other Foreign Languages (Tamil) organised Vasagar Vattam- Book Review on 08.0819. Both students and staff members presented their reviews on selected books and authors. I year students of Film Technology Srinivasan and Divakar reviewed the book Mail Kalutha and Sopra Kanaka by Jeyamohan. Mrs. R. Arthi, Asst.Prof. of EFL, reviewed the book Yaanai Doctor (The Elephant Doctor) by Jeyamohan. Mr. Suresh, Asst. Prof. of Chemistry, reviewed the book Simma Swapnan by Marudhan. The event was organized by Mr. G. Ganesh, Asst. Prof. in Tamil.

Staff Achievements

HoD, SRM School of Film Technology, Mr.Balaji received the Best Character Artiste Award for ‘Minnaley’ (Television serial) from honorable Justice Thiru. S.K.Krishnan at a function held at Russian cultural centre, organized by Maha fine arts club.

Thisai Katti Documentary

SRM School of Film Technology (SOFT) screened the Documentary film on the father of Tamil cinema titled “Thisai katti” on 24.01.2020. HoDs and faculty members from other departments, students of Film Technology & Visual Communication departments and Mr.Bharathi Thamizhan from ‘The Hindu’ (Thamizh) attended the screening. After the screening, the faculty members and students who were part of the documentary film making were introduced to the gathering and they shared their working experience. Director General of our campus, Dr.Sridhar, I.A.S.. emphasized the importance of preserving our heritage and cultural identities. Mr.Bharathi Thamizhan insisted that this documentary should reach the young people of the present generation to understand the contribution done by the father of Tamil cinema.

Cocktail Audio Launch

SRM School of Film Technology conducted an audio launch of its alumni, Mr.Sai Bhaskar (2014-17 batch, Sound dept.) of his debut movie ‘Cocktail’ during ‘Rampus’- the cultural fest held at Ramapuram Campus on 21.02.2020.Actress,Ms.Namitha, released the theme music of the film. Thiru S.V.Shekar, actor, writer, and dramatist released the teaser of the film. Mr.Sai Bhaskar, the music director of the film gave a live performance of a song from the film. The event was hosted by Vijay TV ‘Kalakka Povathu Yaaru’ fame Mr. Bala. More than 40 people from Press and TV media covered the show. On the whole, the programme was a grand success and gave a good platform for our student.

Siragu Audio Launch

The audio launch function of the film " Siragu " was held successfully at our film institute on 12.7.19 at our viewing theater.  The producer of the film Ms.Mala Manyan, who was a pioneer in anchoring & producing in TV spoke about the importance of budgeting and preparation required for the  successful out of the film. The Director of the film Ms.Kutti Revathi who was a well known lyric writer (Marian, Aruvi , Ettu Thottakkal etc ) shared her struggles and difficulties she faced all these years before making her debut film. The heroine of the film Ms.Akshitha, a yoga instructor and a classic dancer was also present  during the function. Dr.Murugesan, Dean school of media studies while addressing the gathering highlighted the importance of organizing these kind of programmes for a better industry institution interactions.


An Inter-active session with the director of the movie “ANDRAMESS”,Mr. Jai and with the cast and crew members of the film was held on 02.07.18


Students of SRM School of Film Technology discussed with the director of the film “ASURAVADHAM”, Mr.Maruthupandian. The students discussed about the story, screenplay and other nuances of the film. This inter-active session was held on 13.07.18.


“Ezhumen” movie (starring Vivek , Deivayani) Trailor & Audio Launch was held at SRM School of Film Technology (SOFT) on 28.09.18. This was followed by an interactive session with Mr.V.P.Viji, Producer and Director of the film.

Character Modelling

Department of visual communication organized a special lecture on “Character modelling in 3D Maya” by Mr.Dhanasekaran K, character artist on 26.09.2019. He explained clearly how to create a character with low polygon and modifier brushes.  He shared his experiences in the field. He also demonstrated the character creation in detail using Maya Software. He also explained about career prospectives in 3D animation industry which is poised to grow as a major employment provider in the future.

Foto Club

F/8 photography Club aims to encourage the students interested in photography in Faculty of Science and Humanities. The photography club was inaugurated on 08.08.19. The Chief Guest, Mr.P Naveen Kumar Traveller & Street Photographer, Founder: Nermuganilai Photography Club emphasized the importance of the club and gave tips for street photography. Around 73 students attended the programme.

Industrial Visit

Department of Visual Communication organized an industrial visit to Canon India Master service Center a state of the Art facility at Guindy, Chennai on 26/02/2020. 30 students who are ambitious to take photography as profession visited the facility accompanied by the faculty member, Mr. Diwakar. Image processing techniques to capture digital images were demonstrated by Canon Imaging technicians to the students to understand how digital images are stored.

Murder Case

Department of Visual Communication organized a student interactive session on 10 Feb 2020 with V1 Murder Case Movie team to create an opportunity to interact with Film Industry Personalities. The V1 Murder case movie has won the hearts of all class of audience and has been critically acclaimed across all film critics and film review websites with high scores. The event was organized by Mr.Canute Ignatius, Assistant Professor of Visual Communication department and more than 100 students actively participated in the interactive session.
