Bridge Course for First Year CS Students – Day 1

The Bridge Course for First Year Students, organized by the Department of Commerce (Corporate Secretaryship) at SRM Institute of Science and Technology’s Ramapuram Campus, commenced on 18th July 2023. The purpose of this course is to equip incoming first-year students with essential knowledge and skills to excel in their academic journey in the field of Corporate Secretaryship.
Session 1: Business Laws (Time: 2.45 pm – 3.30 pm)
The first session of the day was conducted by Ms. R. Revathi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. Ms. Revathi delved into the topic of Business Laws, providing an overview of the legal framework that governs business operations. The session covered the fundamental concepts and principles of business laws, emphasizing their significance in the corporate world. Students were engaged in interactive discussions to better understand the practical implications of legal aspects in the business environment.
Session 2: Indian Economy (Time: 4.30 pm – 5.15 pm)
Dr. S Devi Narayani, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce (Corporate Secretaryship), took charge of the second session, focusing on the Indian Economy. The session provided insights into the various sectors of the Indian economy, its current status, and the challenges it faces. Students gained an understanding of economic concepts and their relevance to business and policy-making.
Session 3: Basics of Financial Accounting (Time: 5.15 pm – 6.00 pm)
Concluding the day’s bridge course, Dr. K. Gunasekaran, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce (Corporate Secretaryship), conducted a session on the Basics of Financial Accounting. The session aimed to introduce students to the fundamental principles of accounting, financial statements, and the interpretation of financial data. Practical examples were shared to facilitate a better comprehension of financial accounting concepts.

The Bridge Course’s Day 1 proved to be informative and engaging, as the faculty members diligently addressed key subjects essential for a successful journey in the Corporate Secretaryship program. The interactive nature of the sessions encouraged students to actively participate and laid a solid foundation for their future academic pursuits.
