Topic: Applied Artificial Intelligence – How AI Applied in Real World Application

The Department of COMPUTER APPLICATIONS(MCA) conducted : Joint venture Guest Lecture- SRM Institute of Science and Technology-Ramapuram Campus, Chennai –India &  Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL)--Programme   on 09-12-2020 . The session was handled by Mr. JOTHI PERIYASAMY, CHIEF DATA SCIENTIST, APPLIED MACHINE LEARNING & DATA ENGINEER UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SILICON VALLEY, USA  (Chief AI Architect, Deepsphere AI, Inc, USA)

Dr.C.SUNDAR- Principal -FSH presented the welcome address. During his address, he welcomed the chief guest of todays function and other delegates / dignitaries. He added that the department has been frequently conducting joint venture guest lectures  in frequent intervals which is aimed at elevating the skills of students by bridging the gap between academia and the industry. He added that the events like this are the need of the hour and the department has been constantly updating its curriculum and syllabus and produce industry ready students  by means of narrowing the gap between the academia and industry.

IR MOHD NASSAR HUSSAIN-DEAN(FEST)-IUKL offered the felicitations address. During his address he expressed his gratitude for the guest speaker and stated that SRMIST  has chosen the right person for the event. He also congratulated the department for arranging a program like this.

 He stated that IUKL will take steps to provide faculty exchange  programs , joint publications and other activities to strengthen the bonding between IUKL and SRMIST

MR JASON ANDREW POLKO-Head of international Linkages & Special Projects IUKL offered felicitations. During his address he assured that IUKL will be willing to proceed with- Research Collaboration with SRMIST, Education exchange, Two or three technical programs

Dr. V SUBBIAH BHARATHI –DIRECTOR –SRMIST-RAMAPURAM offered the presidential address. He congratulated the department of MCA for organising activities like this and assured that this event would surely create sparks in the students to pursue their career. During his address he highlighted the importance of AI adoption- Adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is growing worldwide.

He added that due to AI adoption more than 50 % of jobs will be lost as per the reports. He also explained that more than 75 million jobs would be created in AI related jobs by 2023 and nearly 125 million jobs would be based on AI technologies around 2025.

Mr. JOTHI PERIYASAMY started the address by exploring his career growth and stating the role and responsibility in each position. He added that SRMIST is a flagship institution which constantly invites people from industry to conduct events like this to bridge the gap between industry and academia.

He added that Lot of projects are available in -smart grids, education reinvented , iLMS, DMTP

What is AI? Artificial intelligence (AI) is wide-ranging branch of computer science concerned with building smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence.

He then discussed about  the  types of intelligence. He clearly explained How AI is applied in industry or real world problems and discussed about What can we do with AI in case of industry perspective?

What is intelligence automation- Intelligent automation is the combination of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and process automation that is used to create smart business processes and workflows that think, learn, and adapt on their own. He explained the Self driving autonomous  car and asked the participants Try to develop a model like this

Dr.J.Dhilipan- Vice Principal Academic and HOD/MCA presented Vote of thanks. In his address he stated that events like this cannot happen overnight and the wheels have started rolling few weeks back. He thanked our Chairman, Co Chairman, Directors, Deans, the guest Speaker, Delegates from IUKL and all the participants.
