Work Experience

Dr. Sivanesan Dhandayuthapani served as Deputy Dean – Research at Santosh Deemed to be University, Ghaziabad, from April 2021 to May 2025, where he led research administration, faculty development, and Ph.D. programmes. Prior to this, he worked as a Senior Research Associate at the same university from 2020 to 2021, coordinating funded research projects and institutional research initiatives. Between 2018 and 2019, he completed a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at The Ohio State University, USA, conducting translational cancer research. From 2012 to 2018, he served as a Research Scientist at Nova Southeastern University, USA, focusing on cancer biology, molecular mechanisms, and anticancer therapeutics. Earlier in his career, from 1999 to 2007, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at J.J. College of Arts and Science, India, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate biochemistry courses.

Projects

Among his notable research projects, Dr. Sivanesan served as Principal Investigator for a study titled “Investigation of FAK in Ovarian Cancer Samples” (2012–2015), funded by a Health Professions Division Grant at Nova Southeastern University, USA, which examined the role of Focal Adhesion Kinase (FAK) in ovarian cancer progression to identify potential therapeutic targets. From 2013 to 2015, he worked as Co-Principal Investigator on a President’s Faculty Research & Development Grant exploring the use of phycocyanin to enhance the therapeutic potential of anticancer drugs while reducing treatment-related toxicity. Between 2020 and 2021, he led an institutional research project on post-COVID recovery and respiratory health, evaluating the role of micronutrients, antioxidants, immunomodulators, and pranayama in improving respiratory function and reducing stress among post-COVID patients. More recently, from 2023 to 2024, he served as Principal Investigator for a study on triple-negative breast cancer biomarkers, focusing on SNP identification and protein profiling in Indian women to support early diagnosis and personalized treatment, and he also led an extramural research project on salivary biomarkers in oral cancer, identifying prognostic markers associated with heavy metal exposure in tobacco-induced oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Publications

Dr. Sivanesan Dhandayuthapani has authored several notable publications, including studies on electronic resources literacy and e-reading behaviour among nursing students, the neurobiological concepts and treatment regimen of schizophrenia, and D-dimer as a potential biomarker in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. His research also extends to the biocatalytic potential of Pseudomonas species in degrading polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, a comparative evaluation of the efficacy and safety profile of Cariprazine and Olanzapine in patients with schizophrenia, and epigenetic frontiers involving miRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and nanomaterials in pioneering cancer therapy. Further contributions include work on the complexity and future of medical ethics, perspectives on male breast cancer, cutting-edge approaches in anaerobic digestion and digestate management, and a compelling case study unveiling male breast cancer.
