Explore Filmmaking: From Script to Screen

The Department of Visual Communication organized webinar on “ Explore Filmmaking: From Script to Screen” by Appu N. Bhattathiri, Film Director/Editor/Actor, Malayalam on 9^th September 2021.The welcome address was presented by the Head of the Department,Visual Communication. The guest speaker Appu’s independent editorial debut in the acclaimed 2014 movie Oraalppokkam, he has been associated with around a dozen films, notable among which are the comedy Kunjiramayanam (2015), the award-winning indie drama Ozhivudivasathe Kali (2017) and Ottamuri Velicham (2017); the last of which won him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Editing that year. Appu had a major focus on creating, pitching, outlining, developing, drafting and polishing production-ready short film scripts and he very well explained the students. And also discussed about the importance of pre-production. The session provided advance instructions to major and minor areas of craft interest, along with extensive employment information. Students interacted with the guest speaker asking questions about content driven movies of Malayalam Film Industry, role of script in movies and conversion of textual form of script to screenplay.
