Dr P Sudha, Assistant Professor MCA, read the profile of the chief guest and introduced the guest to the audience.

TECHNICAL SESSION: Mr.VENKATARANGAN THIRUMALAI -Entrepreneur, Microsoft Regional Director(Honorary)., Chennai

Mr. Venkatarengan started the session with an introduction to the Artificial intelligence .

Artificial intelligence (AI) is wide-ranging branch of computer science concerned with building smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence.

He then discussed about the history of AI. Also he discussed about the areas where AI is widely used and also the new areas where it has an impact.

His discussion continued with a detailed description of AI Canvas example for fire alarm.

Further he highlighted about the use of AI in vaccination for Covid-19

He pointed out that the Government of USA has signed an agreement  worth 200 million dollars with Microsoft for research in AI.

He then explained about few areas where AI is widely used like Healthcare,  E commerce,  communication,  sales and marketing.

He then discussed about the major job roles in AI like

  • AI scientist
  • AI scale engineer

and also explained about the nature of the jobs.

In continuation he highlighted few job areas in Data Science like

  • Data scientist
  • Data engineers
  • Data labelers
  • Data pipeline engineers.

He then discussed about how AI is widely used in online examination for Detecting whether the camera is switched off or ON.

How AI is used in IPL Matches.

Also talked about major job roles in AI.

His concluding remarks were related to the discussion of the following concepts

  • Options and opportunities after MCA
  • Life after MCA
  • How the job requirement would be for AI  in 2023 when you complete MCA
  • Explained about indeed and monster websites that posts jobs in AI

For AI jobs, what should I know? In this he advised the students to follow the principles given below

  • Internships
  • Online courses
  • Github
  • YouTube videos

Next steps after graduation

  • Improve online/ presentation
  • Participate in local industry association events

Then the session was opened to the audience for clarification of their queries. The entire session was much useful for all the participants.
